Are adverts allowed in Signatures?

Hi, I was wondering if adverts are acceptable in my signature?
I looked in the FAQs and it says images are not allowed, does this include HTML code? If it does obviously those adverts are out completely.
If that is the case would it be acceptable to put a text link in my sig?

To put it in context it is for a UK phone network I am on, if people order a SIM card through my page they'll get an extra £5 credit (as will I).

The ads range from very small little squares (a few cm's on my 20" screen) to banner ads.

Since it's for personal gain (as well as the gain of others, sure, but the point still stands), I'm going to guess that the staff would be against this. People advertise things such as photo galleries in their signatures but they're non profit. There's a reason that people have to pay for advertising on the site!

I'm also fairly certain that HTML is not allowed in signatures. BB Code can be used.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure first as i didn't want to miss out on such an opportunity as this if it was allowed!
Somebody earned over £3000 last year doing things like this. (And that's cash!)
