By this I mean is the time to change gear a default setting or do cars with modern high speed boxes actually change gear quicker in GT? the LFA for example.

Anybody tested it I know gear changes are modelled as I have run alongside a car with different gear ratios & you can see when the gear change occurs.

Asking because just destroyed a rear tyre in RL as it needed replacing & the amount of distance you cover without power is quite surprising.
1st to 2nd at 70mph was about 2 car lengths
2nd to 3rd at 100mph was more like 3 car lengths
Next & cant be sure as may have been somebody else's darkie (it wasn't very distinct & only a couple feet long) was more like a 5 car length gap!!!

Okay should have taken a tape measure but that's the rough gap between the black lines on the road.

These were above average speed changes, motorbike gearbox so no clutch needed just bang it in on full throttle, your average change would take longer.
Makes you realise the effectiveness of trick boxes which change gears in a few hundredth of a second.

Accurately? No idea. The rest.... Confused me a lot. I even read it twice.

For the all of the cars in the game with an H-pattern gearbox, no. The time it takes to change gear is modeled incorrectly. The time it takes to go from 1st-2nd gear is normal, but 2nd-3rd speeds up, then 3rd-4th is almost like the car now has a sequential gearbox.

Cars that are supposed to have a proper sequential gearbox (GT3 cars for example) have it modeled correctly.

Others with a DCT (McLaren MP4/12C, Nissan GT-R, Ferrari California and 458 for example) have it right, and only a few with a torque-converter automatic (Lexus IS-F and M-B SL55 AMG) have that right as well.

Wow okay that's what I was wondering you pay far more attention to it than me. Thanx saved me testing.

@rosckolove & jimantonic (bit slow just got that:lol:)
Some gearboxes are far faster than others, some race cars & a few supercars can change gears in a fraction of a second.
This makes a big difference especially at high speed as you don't stop accelerating for long or introduce instability due to the fact the car is not under power.

What surprised me was at speed you cover a lot of distance unpowered when you change gear. Hence the reason you were told don't change gear mid corner.
