Two of my favorite games are Ridge Racer Type 4 and Extreme G III Racing.

Are you all strictly sim, or do you partake in arcade, too?

I sometimes turn on something like NFS Porsche Unleashed or the original Need For Speed, but that happens rarely. It's really confusing when you're used to Gran Turismo's physics and then jump into arcade games with 200mph 90degree turns :)

I know you asked about GT4 racers but this isn't related to GT4 so it should be here.

I beg to differ. Re-read the title of the thread.

Back on topic, I'm also fond of NASCAR Thunder 2004 (half sim/half arcade). I don't have such a strict mentality. ;)

I never started GT4's Arcade mode until last summer, and that's only because a bunch of us were doing online Continental Tire Championship mockup races. Arcade mode lets you set the number of laps, and race against other Ai cars. We'd do a race by Sunday, PM our times to Super Shouden, and he'd post the winner & runner ups the next day.

...but I never really got into GT4's Arcade mode other than that. I don't know if they're "taboo" or not. I just never saw the point of doing Arcade. I did enjoy GT2's Arcade mode, though, quite a lot. I think I completed GT2/Arcade, but not any other GT.

PGR 2 and 3 are sick, so is NFSU 1 and 2, NFS MW, those are some arcade racers I beat. I beat FM1 and played it online, after playing FM2 I considered that to be an arcadeish racer with sim qualites. If you slamed the gas without traction control (in FM1) you would loose the back end, gt4 pisses me off because you keep going straight while the tires are rosting. Occasionally on the ring in fm1 I would slam into the divider at the pit entrance or enter the pits because I spun the tires exiting the turn befor the pits, while driving the Toyota TSO P1 car.

GT4's arcade mode is a different than what he asked about. GT4's arcade mode is just the simulator with a different way of picking cars and tracks. He's asking about racing games that are not intended to be simulators, more meant to be fun for casual gamers... like an 'arcade game.'

If its a raving game that is fun, then I'll play it. NFS Most Wanted, Ridge Racer Type 4 and Kaido Racer 2 are some of my favourites.

This thread is in the wrong forum, then. If it has nothing to do with GT4.

*facepalm*

Unfortunately, GT4's sim qualities have essentially ruined me for other arcade games. I used to like NFS and Crusin' USA/World, SanFranRush, etc. but now i can't stand to play them. I try to drive right, and I wind up losing.
