are red bull prize vehicles completely worthless?

ok first off, i have scoured the internet in a vain attempt to find any thread on any forum referring to this. I believe i may be in a minority here, but i dont care much about having the best vehicle for a particular race and generally enjoy trying out the concepts and dream cars. I also attempt to be rather frugile with my credits and would rather use prize cars instead of buying them. Also, im not fully concerned with only winning...sometimes losing races can be just as fun if its close.
Here's my issue:
I completed the red bull event, with minimal effort, and recieved both prizes, red bull x2014 jr and racing kart125. After getting these, i was excited to try them out in some real races only to find out that the x2014 jr cannot keep up with 750pp vehicles (or even 700 when detuned). Then, i eventually get to the 125 karting events and realize that i cannot even use the red bull kart for those. So my ultimate question is:
Are there any races (besides online) where you can actually use these vehicles? and if not, whats the point of having them or rating them so high?

Now, if your moral compass is a bit whacky you can do the 24 minute of lemans with the RB Jr if you simply take all the shortcuts (and associated penalties)… :-)

The RB JR is actually fun to run in some of the races though you will not win on some tracks with it due to the lack of top speed. I ran it in one championship a week or so ago. I didn't win but could have if I drove it a bit better. I forget which race it was, dream cars maybe? Whatever it was it had some LMPs in it and a variety of other cars. I won easily on Willow, should have won on Motegi and cape ring, did not stand any chance what so ever of winning on Lemans and won on whatever the other track was.

I honestly rarely play online, if any at all. Haven't done my first online event in 6, so far.
Ive lost enough races with the Jr to realize its not competetive with the LMS vehicles, making it less fun to drive, or it may be my lack of skill. However, as far as a moral compass goes, i have restarted or just plain quit races that ive either had to cheat in order to be competetive or if make too many mistakes. Id rather lose and still look good rather than win by cutting off half the track. At any rate, I may give the Jr a try on those "endurance" races...just unlocked them yesterday.

Oh, and are there any AI races that allow the red bull kart?

I rarely ever restart or quit races. I believe in finishing them, even if it means last place.

The RB JR can beat the LMPs if you drive it well but not on all tracks, in the race I mentioned I won with ease on Willow, would have won on Motegi had I not gone off track and spun out and on Cape ring I took the lead and got spun out near the end of the last lap by an LMP car that was on my tail. Was my fault as I did not see him nose inside as I entered the corner and I moved over into him.

Lemans on the other hand I think I finished 6th or maybe worse. No way to hang with LMPs or even the super cars on tracks with that much high speed area.

I feel like a lesser man, a man with no integrity and honor by quitting or restarting races after reading that. Eh, 180 races, 180 wins. Better than Vettel, all that matters. :P

Well, I try to use a more realistic stance in that if I'm cutting a lot of corners or pinballing off of walls, IRL they would disqualify me, not allowing me to ffinish a race. If I do a clean run and finish 5th for it, I know I need a better car or tune.

I do clean runs as well, I just don't like to restart or quit. I have lots of losses on my stats for sure, probably at least 300 by now most to the AI but some online. Pretty much the only way I will quit a race is if something comes up where I have to do so, such as lost PSN connection while racing online, disconnected from server or maybe someone comes to my door or a phone call I have to take. Offline maybe if I forgot to select a car or tires for the race and end up in something I did not mean to use.

...Wait, did you actually run that last bit with the camera facing backwards? That didn't look like a replay.

Try adding maximum ballast to the Red Bull junior and removing most or all the aerodynamics. Then it will have, I believe less than 700 PP and you'll beat any other car on a twisty track - but don't expect to win something on a long straight tracks like La Sarthe or similar

International A GT World Championship with the RB Jr is a nice event, Mount Panorama especially, as you just don't have the speed that the competition have, so need a good run through the top of the Mount section to be in with a chance of challenging for 1st place.

^^This. The beautiful thing about the RB Jr is that you can run it full out and take corners like nobody's business without eating through your tires or fuel.

I used the RB Jr to the same effect on the Apricot Hill 20. I was just trying it out and partly through the race I was disappointed that I couldn't catch up the lead cars, but noticed that I wasn't gapping that badly and that my tires and fuel had barely budged. So I trekked on and to my surprise, I never had to pit and ended up winning the race because of it. Plus, the RB Jr just sounds so awesome. Really fun car to drive, regardless of it's crappy straight line prowess.

the X3'14, or JR. ;), is a good example for how much GT needs a "offline race editor" way better than arcade.
i'd like a X3 world championship (17 laps, 7 tracks, etc)

thread, poll:race creator for career mode

Its basically a feeder formula car on steroid....pretty accurate in that cars like F3 cars or the lesser Formula Renault is basically like this, a ton of aero and grip, and no power....

It was done in replay mode. You can tell by the little blue camera next to the driver's name.

Forget the facing backwards bit, how would I hold the phone, drive and look backwards at the same time?

Although sometimes I like to think I am THAT GOOD! :sly:
