Hi there,

are the rivals in the carrer events tuned? For example in the GT300 event I have a brz 2012 with a lot of hp for a GT300 car but the rivals are faster than me on the straights.

What is with other events? Are the rivals tuned there like in Forza Motorsport (where you can permitt it in the options).

Thanks

No, they are stock in both career and arcade mode. If you upgrade your car in Arcade Single Race, your car's Performance Points (PP) will be raised and you will race faster, but still stock cars.

Ok thanks. Than they benefit a lot of slipstream.

But are the rivals programmed to give up in the last 40% of a race?

AI cars are not tuned but they seem to have some sort of extra boost in the straights, probably PD's attempt to compensate for their early braking and slow speed around corners.

Have you tried racing the same exact car as one of them and then testing it on the straights?

They've been stock since GT2. I remember in GT1 before the race you could see your rivals stats e.g. Pwr, weight what compound. I wish they'd bring that back.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are tuned in some of the events. They certainly were in GT5(both tuned up and even detuned), and I'm fairly certain that they have used tuned AI opponents in the earlier games as well. I can't remember any particular career mode events where I was sure I was racing a tuned AI in GT6 off the top of my head but it's been a while since I ran any of them. There probably are, but you have to judge by their performance on the track since we can't see their PP level like we could in GT5.

They usually don't tune them very extensively however and as far as is apparent I believe it is just simple power tuning. The transmission always seems to be left stock. They also seem to have a habit of often tuning up some of the slower cars in the field but not so far that they aren't still much slower than the rabbits.

Arcade mode AI cars are always completely stock.

I haven't run the current Expert seasonal yet, but the one at Suzuka was unquestionably using tuned AI cars, although I suspect the front-running F1s and Huayras and such were still stock.

So yes, they are sometimes tuned, but not very well and not in such a way that it really makes a lick of difference. And of course with the increased rubber-banding in GT6 it doesn't mean anything anyway. Fall behind and they'll wait for you. Get too far ahead and they'll run faster times than they are ever capable of otherwise.

Wow, you are right on. On many seasonal races, when I fall behind, they also slow down but when I took the lead early on, they kept coming right behind me running way faster laps than normal. The AI have been consistently running like 1-3 seconds behind me this way lol.

Another thing that i notice: Sometimes they INTENTIONALLY CRASH at corner or push sideways to smash me into the side. It is funny that when they failed, they end up at the wall. I got off the tracks couple times this way which can be very annoying.

Also, are they intentionally slowing down at corner to block or something?

AI cars can be tuned, both in GT5 and GT6 I've noticed tuned AI cars in both GT6 and GT5. The key give away i look for is the exhaust. In every single race with normal road cars (where you can see if the exhaust has been changed) I've seen at least one car with a custom exhaust. That is, in every seasonal and carrer race in GT6, and every seasonal race in GT5.

On top of that, PD uses "rubberband AI" so the faster you go, the faster they go. and that rubberband function is very strong in GT6, not as strong as in NFS, but stronger than GT5.

I don't think they intentionally slow down in the corners to block you, although it may seem that way. They just tend to naturally lose way too much speed right around the apex. I think it's more intended to make the game less difficult for the average player, although the faster players would love to have a way to turn it off. Also if you scare them and make them slow down it can look like they are trying to block you, but this has at least become a little bit better than it was in GT5 at least when you are directly behind them.

They do tend to take a really bad line and turn in way too early for the corners however, and I can't really see any reason for them doing that along with some of the silly weaving in places like on the Nordschleife other than to make it more difficult to get around them. This suspicion is further bolstered by the fact that they never bother to fix almost any of these lines.

The latest seasonals have changed things in the way they drive which makes them much more prone to errors(particularly in the Expert ones) for some reason, but that is new(and causes many wrecks). They do occasionally hit you in the other races but not as hard and it is generally down to them being oblivious to your presence rather than trying to wreck you... I think.

can you reformulate that? seems interesting
