Hi, I'm new to POSTING on this site. I was wondering if it is possible to win 24hrs of Le Mans with a production car? I'm only asking because when I try to use a Peugeot 908 or Mazda 787b, I always spin out even with skid recovery turned on (I play this game for fun, not competetively and using ds3, but I know the basics of racing technique) I don't want to use an x2010 or fgt, but was considering using a McLaren F1 tuned or even a ZR-1 RM. Any suggestions would help.

Ahhh... good question. If you decided to use the ZR1 RM, you'd be fine. I started (didn't finish) the 24hr race with it. The tires will last 3 laps (fuel 5 laps), and you'll get 7'30-7'40 times. At the 3 hour mark I was about a lap and a half ahead. You could tune it down from the max (maybe not put the extra turbo on it) and perhaps the tires will last longer (or increase traction control). Here's a few other threads that may be of help in deciding:

Ha. I was thinking the same thing awhile ago before I was doing the 60 lap endurance at Grand Valley--though, I haven't gotten to the 24 Hr. Le Mans yet. And I was thinking...it COULD be possible, as long as you know what you are doing to that production car in terms of tuning and technique on the track. So you're not the only one asking that. For now, I'll let someone else take on this question. I'd really like someone to answer this, too. But hey, it IS possible...

Are you sure you're talking about Le Mans? That's Nurburgring.

You could also do some tuning to the LMP, longer gear ratios, more downforce, throttle control, tuning the LSD, raising Traction Control too?

Thanks for giving your experiences and advice on this matter, and the links. I was considering using the Corvette all along since they use it in real life. And I didn't mention this earlier but I'm only willing to use Premiums only. I'm glad the 2.0 gave cockpit but I want the full experience with gauges and windshield wipers. Every one of my victories in a-spec was in a Premium, online is different.

I bet a Enzo could get it done. It can run a 3:40 around Le Mans tuned right with no chicane cutting and tires should last around 4-5 laps on soft racing tires.

I also recommend the the ZR1 RM. Its beyond easy to drive with racing softs, and it's great for an underdog car. Plus its cheap and looks sexy :D
If you're really getting killed, you can cut the last chicane for about 1/8th of the time the computers take, and I like to not brake for the long stretch, and use my momentum to carry me through the sandtraps. It actually works, unless you clip the walls, in which case it has a different effect (20 seconds in sand)
Those are generally considered cheats, but after 14 hours of driving I refuse to get anything other then podium.........

I wouldn't exactly call an RM car a roadcar, Ferrari Enzo, Mclaren F1, ACR Viper also and anything you can tune the life out of that will hit 220mph'ish should do the trick.

definately.

Any car you can run a 3.30-3.40 or better average lap will be able to do this race, and win. Personally I'm using the Mazda Furai (yes concept not road car), but I could just as easily used a fully tuned dodge viper, ZR1, Enzo, R8 or GTR. In the Furai the tyres (RS) are lasting 12 laps, and i'm getting 15 laps out of my fuel in the rain.

What laptimes should the car reach, to get a chance?

Did a 8:30 in the Falken Skyline race car. Anybody knows this? Would be a great help. (like the 4 hr NS thread form "Famine")

That's Nurburgring, I think the OP means Le Mans.

And the Mazda Furai doesn't have any headlights I think unless it changed.

If you can run a Road car that can do 8mins to 8:10mins then you can probably win the 24h Nurburgring.

Don't tempt me like this! Both my Daihatsu Cuore/Nora TR-XX Avanzato R '97 and my Daihatsu Copen Active Top tunes run sub 8 minute laps on Nürburgring Nordschleife...not sure how much time the 24hour layout adds but...a Kei car winning a top endurance race like that!:crazy::lol:

And now that we have in game saves driver fatigue isn't a real issue.:D

McLaren f1 is a beast at le mans, it's advantage is primarily the speed and acceleration, but handling is also good enough to keep from falling behind. Maxing it out is a good idea, but keep the tranny stock. Also, the cockpit looks great... Center seat, white gauges, green gauge lights, good view, and two rear view mirrors make the ride as enjoyable as possible, while making it as easy to drive as possible, in cockpit view

Road cars can win the 24hr Lemans but the Nurburgring race will be much harder.

Not to doubt your experience(I haven't run either race), but that seems a little surprising to me. I can't think of a track in the game that the AI is worse at than the Nordschleife, particularly in race cars. Countless corners that they take 25-40+ miles per hour too slow there, plus their tendency to push the tires too long in the 4-hour race would make me assume the opposite.

Your main aponent AI will be in the 787B he laps around the 8 minute time Day and night can you atain 8 minute in a Mlaren F1 all night, very hard. Just hope it rains thats your best bet. And yes ive done the race twice now in a stock 908 with racing tyres and a fully tuned BMW Mclaren GT1 and both were close races.
As I stated if it dont rain you will have to lap below 8 minutes constistantly in the dark to win. And also remember you have the full GP curcuit tagged onto the Nordshliefe here as well not the V curcuit which is shorter.

Good luck. 👍

And the Mazda Furai doesn't have any headlights I think unless it changed.

Version 2.0 now defaults standard cars to high-beams in the dark. This now means that cars like the Furai which have poor low-beams now light-up the road in the dark. Without this change I would not be even contemplating this race in A-spec with this car. My alternative before the update was a Dodge Viper, i'd tuned & tested it just for an hour and it was very competitive.
