This is the only forum i have ever posted on. I was searching for something on GT3 over a year ago and I came across this place.

Since then I feel I have become a part of a commuity and everyone here is great. There is a real frendship between so many people, and i have met loads of peeps that I talk to on a regular basis now.

Is it like this on other forums? Or is GTP a bit "special"? (I think it is)

What do you lot think?

This forum is just perfect, because those thousands of registrated users are automatically Gran Turismo fans = gamers = car enthusiasts.... I mean, you can't have more, can you ? :sly:

There are forums that are as good as this and better, but they are rare. Usually you stumble over them by accident, searching for some specific information or whatever. But you find one or two occasionally, and those are the ones you keep visiting.

One thing I've learned though is that even if you know how a forum works, you're still tempted to open a thread and just ask your question right away in the forum you find, even if you know exactly that this is the behaviour that lets you freak out in the forums you've been a long time member at. Strange, eh? :sly:

Cheers,
the Interceptor

This is one of those rare forums that you come across and dont ever want to leave.
The community here is just great.

Exactly!

Funnily enough this was my first forum!

... so I didn't know that I shouldn't double-post! :sly:

👍

Well, I had been posting on a forum for about 2 years (3 now) based on another game. A rare find, actually. The community was great, but as peoples' lives moved on, the place fell apart. We were (some of us still are) a tight-knit community, almost an online family of sorts. I still post there, and likely always will, even though I have next to no interest in the game that it centers around anymore.

I found this place in November. One of the members of the other forum I was speaking of found out I was obsessed with GT. So he suggested I come here. I was skeptical, I mean, big forum, many users, I figured I'd just be another screen name amongst an ocean of registered users.

But this thread sealed the deal, and I made this my new home. Swift made me feel so welcomed, so paid-attention-too that I had to stick around. Never have I been greeted with such kindness, answered with such open-mindedness. I felt like my post was actually worth a discussion, not just an answer and then forgotten.

GTP is my home on the internet. Even if I don't feel like discussing GT, there's so much else here to talk about. Even the people I don't agree with show me respect, as I them! That's a rare thing on the internet!

The other good forum I know is gameplanet, a NZ game site.

The wonderful thing(s) about GTP is(are) the way there is a sub-forum for everything and the atmosphere is just.. wow. Long Live GTP 👍

Great members plus great mods to keep the peace equals one of the best forums on the net. I've been on a few forums before, but this has to be the best of them all so far, mainly because the atmosphere here is very orderly (thanks to the mods), and as such, everyone treats everyone else with respect and dignity, and helps to create a great community.

This forum is the best Ive been to in my opinion, ive been to many. I find a few other good ones like Skylines Australia , its almost as big as GTP and is moderated well but isnt as broad as GTP.

GTPlanet is my home forum for sure, good work 👍

There are at least three other forums that I go to on a daily bases. I talk with just one person at each, from time to time. But here, I talk with at least six people. Some not often, but some all the time. Actually, I've had to get rid of a few contacts becaue it was getting to cluttered. This place is unique like that. Plus, no other forum is as diverse as this place. Smart or stupid, gay or straight, liberal or conservative, pro life or pro choice, rich or poor, old or young, rude or friendly, humorless or clown, etc. This place has it all.

All the forums that I have belonged to in the past have been work related - mainly database stuff. I came here about a week ago - from Google. Frustrated that I couldn't complete GT4 because I couldn't find a car to race Altezza. I searched the forums and found the answer pretty quickly.

I'll stay because the people here are great (haven't yet found flames or trolls) and the mods keep a tight ship.

This is the second forum that I've joined as a regular member and ended up as part of the overall community. The first was www.neons.org , which was an outgrowth of a mailing-list-based community. That forum also became a family (for a while), and grew big and contentious, and has had its share of ups and downs and has continued to evolve. I was a contributing member there for about 4 or 5 years, but I was starting to drift away from that when I finally got GT3 and shortly after discovered GTPlanet. There were too many factions and too many permanent grudges. This from a forum that organized and put on the first national Neon get-together (which I attended) in 1997, and has managed to keep a yearly national event going to date.

So no, it's not the only forum that has this established a sense of community (there's been at least one marriage among couples that met online at neons.org). That sense has been strained by the sudden exponential increase in new members, but it's coming through and adpting well, I think.

It's funny because I was never into forums at all......sure I would come across the odd one here and there searching for information but hardly ever visited more than once.......Then I found GTP looking for GT4 information.......I was really hooked on this place.......not only was the information top notch, the community had something special.........it didnt seen so 'disconnected' like other forums where you didnt feel you knew the members (not that I stayed there long enough!)......GTP does have a great air about it......maybe its because Gran Turismo fans tend to be nice people :) .......Since I found this place I kept comming back and signed up in less than a week......This place is great even if there is little to talk about in the GT sense.....With some many other sections and the amazing Rumble Strip (which I feel would be a great name for a Bar! BTW) had this sence of friendly chat that you really dont find anywhere else of the web.....

1500 odd posts later and I think this place is the business for info and fun.....Hey I even went Premium its that good!

God Bless GTPlanet .........Thanks Jordan for such a great site..... :) 👍

(.......man does this post sound like a leaving speech or something! )

This is the one forum I've been to that isn't based off of a product (the vBulletin forums, for example) where there is an equal combination of members who are very mature and knowledgable, and those who, well, aren't. And then there are a whole bunch of members who are just right - not a walkning dictionary, but not a 'l33t n00b,' either.

GTP is in no way perfect, but it is - to me - the only forum where you can enjoy yourself whether you feel like posting or not.

I've been hanging out with the GTF crew since the start of my forum life and now mostly post over at Gran Turismo X, but this is definately my second home and i've been here since the beginning.

There is also a very strong sense of community/family over at my forums as over the last four years or so in all variations of my forums i've had people who've been in every single one (crb is my longest standing member :)) and some who've only joined a year or two ago, but still feel as though The Spot is their true home.

It does have that sort of feeling about it though, which you can't get as easily as the bigger forums. Big forums like this are useful for getting to meet people and learn stuff though. 👍

I came here from a 6-month stay at the Road & Track forums in... umm.... I guess it would be late summer of 2002 (even though I stopped visiting for about 5 months during '03). These forums are much better managed, and are a more tight-knit, friendly and knowledgeable community. There are a very broad spectrum of topics dicussed here, more than most other forums that I've visited. And WAY less flaming, thanks in part to our Mods.

I used to post in forum.granturismo.com
one day someone advertised GTP
it looked like a new site ... but didn't look bad at all
so I bookmarked it
then later GTF shutdown ... I started searching
I had been to gamefaqs for a while
but those people were so immature and lack of response
I felt like talking to myself ...
later I found GTP forum getting popular ... so I joined
I was mute at the beginning until GT4:P came out
now I visit GTP everyday ... and I am addicted 👍

I use this forum as the "standard" all others SHOULD follow and so far none have come close.
:D:tup:👍

i use this as well as neoseeker which is good, i used to hang around at gamefaqs but that place is full of annoying 12 year old ricers who think theyr right all the time
