Hey,

Yesterday I got a RUF "Yellow Bird" CTR from a friend.
I used it with the tune of Team Shmo and I LOVE it!
I hardly ever see anyone using a RUF for drifting...
After trying it out, I can't understand why.
Are there more people here who love to drift with a RUF?
If so, let me know which one and feel free to post some pics of it! :D

Thomas

RUG BTR and RGT are both great drift cars. The RGT is unusually fast, though underpowered, and the BTR is easy and smooth. (sort of a go-to classic drift car)

The 4WD RUFs are not bad drift cars either. The CTR is probably the best, however, simply due to its low weight. I haven't tried the 3400S, but I'm sure it's not bad.

RUF? The Porsche looking car? I thought that was 4WD. I really never tried the car because I never drift 4wd but I see a few people who use it

Maybe because they are porsches.

If you re-read Ghostz's post, he mentions 4 of them. RUF is just the "brand"/"tuner", something like that! Basically modded Porches.

because it is a porsche body with a different engine.

Is it a completely different engine or just a modded one? I know tuners like NISMO, SPOON etc., use the same engine (original) but modded and tuned to their own spec. Is this the case with RUF, or is is totally different?

Modified porsche engines with custom transmissions.

No, it's not.

RUF recieves BIW Porsches and add their own motor, transmission, suspension and whatnot to the car.

To sum it up, it's a completely different car that looks like a Porsche.

A good known example of what I said is the RGT-8.

I drift tuned a ruf yellowbird and oh my god,its loose.i mean, you can go around a fast corner at the top gear test track fully sideways at 100+ mph and you can still catch it

I personally do not drift these cars as I find them to be far too quick through the corners.

I don't think any less of anybody who drifts them, infact I respect those who can safely drift them on CH tyres as they're a beastly range of cars.

However because of the speed they clears corners at I can't tandem with them so I'm not particularly fond of them.
But perhaps that's just bad experience talking.

They're stroked versions of porsche motors

The new RGT-8 is a completely different motor. And as far as I know the only one with an all new RUF motor.

"The first RUF RGT was based on the Porsche 996 It used the 3.6 liter engine from the GT3 as the base with the crankcase from the air-cooled 3.6 liter engines."

The RUF (Pronounced roof, not like a dog's bark) BTR is a spastic angle drift car. The rear mounted engine and good power means it can easily get a lot of angle. The Yellow bird is good as a drift car (notorious for having a loose end even with TC on) but it's more suited for the Wangan.

For those not on mobile

It's a good car as I said and I've seen them get some incredible angle.

I just can't see it as a safe car is all  I get nervous when drifting near them.

I'm sorry, I guess it wasn't clear enough for you:

Which RUF?

RUF! The YellowBird!!!

Oh, now I know, well in that case why not fully change the style of the car (Looks of the car).

Lose the attitude dude, there are quite a few RUF's in the game and you didn't make it clear which one you were talking about. Just because the OP was talking about the Yellowbird doesn't guarantee you're referring to the same one.

His question is perfectly reasonable and acceptable.

You keep referring to the yellowbird as the only RUF available.

I'm sorry that me demanding clarification because there's actually more than one model of RUF available in the world and on GT5 pissed you off.

To those that want to know, RUF is not just a tuner company. RUF actually rebuilds the cars from the frame up, meaning that at some point in the production the only thing resembling a Porsche is a hunk of solid metal. Because of this the frames, modified as well, get their own numbers and are registered as their own cars and not Porsches. I believe that a good number of the Porsches they receive are not given chassis/identification numbers from the factory for this reason: RUF puts their own on them. It's actually fascinating how in-depth they get about it. Its not even that they simply add or update components, they hand-work the entire machine.

That, and the company Singer, does something similar. This makes me wonder if at some point we will get the Singer 911, which is a unique classic 911 chassis rebuilt with new and updated components.

@Urie Husky: Try the BTR. It's lack of rear grip compared to other RUFs, high and wide torque band, and poor aerodynamics compared to the later Porsches make it a more reasonable drift car than some of the other, absurdly fast ones like the RGT.

Cheers I'll check that out now 👍

What attitude... Just because I was using "! and ?" doesn't mean there is a attitude.

I'm pissed off because you didn't know which ruf i was talking about??? Lol are you serious.

Have you tried drifting the Nissan? In my experience its one of the best drift cars in the game.

I wonder if anyone else drifts the Nissan...

Interesting, do you have any sources for this? I knew RUF was different from tuning companies but wasn't sure how.

Edit:  @ post 25.

No, not because of your punctuation.

Attitude isn't conveyed in punctuation, it's conveyed in hostile wording.

Dice wanted you to clarify which RUF you were talking about as there are multiple models in the game.

You could have very easily clarified that you were talking about the Yellowbird, rather than yelling RUF

I've only seen one RUF in GT5 to be honest, I guess because all of them looks identical :sly: So I thought there was only one. 👍

Huh? I drift a Nissan 300zx but which Nissan are you talking about?

GhostZ is pointing out precisely what I'm talking about.

YOU may know what you're talking about, but we don't.

You might think of the Yellowbird as the "Only RUF" but in reality there are many and I've seen people competently drifting all of them. (as scary as they might be to be near)

It doesn't take much to clarify what you're talking about and in return you save everyone a whole lot of bother trying to work out what you mean.
