Are you faster in Formula GT than Ferrari F1 at some tracks?

I've noticed I can take the Formula GT car around Spa within a few tenths of my best Ferrari F2007 time. That's after limited running in FGT. I think I might be better in it after a few more laps. I've noticed this at Madrid, but not too many other places. Or I haven't paid attention, who knows.

Is anybody else faster in the Formula GT than either Ferrari F1 car. Not necessarily consistency, but qualifying/best case tires kind of laps.

Doesnt it have like 200+ more HP?

On a high speed track like spa, that would make sense.

only tried it in Monza, but yes im faster with my FGT.

On very high speed courses of course the fgt will be faster. It has 200 more hp and less downforce. But on courses with many turns the Ferrari will destroy it.
But on topic, I'm much faster in the Ferrari.

Tool4sno, you should join the USA Indy car series and or the FGTC, using the FGT, its good fun. ;) The Indy series is struggling big time (only 5 turned up to race excluding me with the pace car.) Its very organized though. Way more so than the Ferrari F1 series I ran.

The FGT with Skid recovery is on par with the F2007 without skid recovery on most tracks.

An un-aided FGT is slower at all circuits excluding Monza. The F10 and FGT are of similar performance without aids *the F10 being slightly faster.

The FGT with SRF is slightly faster than the F2007 with SRF at Monza. At Spa the F2007 is dead even (both using SRF.)

Without SRF the F2007 is the hands down better car.

Its pointless comparing the two though because they cannot race one another. :(

I know, just something to waste time talking about.

There was a seasonal recently - Time trial. It was around Cape Ring periphy(sp?). It was open to any car, but you had to drive on racing hards or meds.

Anyway when I checked my time verses my PSN friends, a number drove the FGT and others drove the Ferrari F1 2007. The highest of their times was in the Ferrari. That got me interested how the FGT and Ferrari times were worldwide. I scrolled through the top 200 times worldwide and it was only FGTs.

Of course the figures might be skewed as pretty much everyone owns a FGT and not everyone owns a Ferrari F1 car.

Yes you are faster with FGT than F2007 only if it has long straights like Spa, but on a track like Autumn Ring or a track with many twisting turns the F2007 is clearly fastest then.
Im faster 2 sec in Spa with FGT than F2007.

The FGT is faster almost everywhere IMO but the huge downforce on the Ferrari cars makes them much easier to drive without driver assists so its hard to compare them properly.
If we could agree on the aids it may be fun to compare :)

What does the 07 and 10 top out at without a tow?

I could only hit 202 in the F10, max downforce @ nurb

No, my FGT is dying and its too expensive to fix or buy a new one.

I think it can do better maybe tweeking the gear ratios or something.

I can sort the FGT data, thanks.

An excellent FGT driver will destroy a ferrari f1 around every circuit.

I like your style Skate, say it like you see it :D, I so wish we could race the two cars together.

Proof? High speed cornering and the 890hp are the only advantages of the FGT. Without more downforce, the FGT has less potential than the F10/F2007.

An example of this is found in non-F1 cars: Take the Veyron and the Lexus DTM. Both are ~1500kg; One has massive power(veyron) and the other has downforce(Lexus DTM). The Veyron would win a lap of High-Speed-Ring or Fuji, but the lexus dtm would win a lap of nurburgring or Suzuka.

So my answer is:
But with a bit of yes: Use each car according to it's strengths.

936 hp on the FGT.
Its tough to prove and gets very complicated due to different driver assists being used by different people.
If you can accept that the publicly displayed fastest laps on the FGTC are real (the other competitors would protest if they were not) then you have the FGT times for certain tracks.

Now you just have to jump in your F1 car, copy the assists and beat the times :D

I think the F1 might win at Monaco, not sure about anything else on the list though.
