Guy Wadsworth tests a life-saving lamp-post that disintegrates on impact. Tom Ford test-drives the Ariel Atom, which has no doors, no windscreen and no bodywork but accelerates faster than the McLaren F1. And Tiff Needell and Jason Plato go head-to-head in two new American cars - the Corvette C6, which has the biggest engine on sale today, and the Dodge SRT10

That was in Auto Express this week, they drove two rover 820s into lamposts. One of the rovers was remote control, and hit the normal concrete lampost, and the other, some guy drove straight into the disintegrating one at 10mph faster than the other lampost, and survived! It looked really cool, must have been better in video form :grumpy: .

Sounds like a great show! I'll have to keep a lookout for it on speed.

If you have sky satelite tv, try looking on discovery home and leisure in a couple of months. Do you get that in canada?

I don't know if there's any policy or anything about this, but http://www.finalgear.com/ has lots of stuff about 5th gear and top gear, including the episodes themselves on bittorrent.

About the lamppost...as far as I know...over here in the states (San Jose, CA) the posts just come off of their foundation when they get hit. The bolts holding them down are designed to shear in half under high stress.
