Thats right, me and fellow GTP member and good friend Lee (Bee) are preparing to enter the Red bull flugtag in Edinburgh in this coming July.

We have 31 days to get an entry forward and then hope we get a slot on the runway if our design is wacky enough:D Any ideas or inspiration is appreciated.

In this thread we will keep you informed of our progress and of course if we get in or not:)

Wish us luck and we would also love GTPlanet as a sponsor!:D Only seems right so Jordan get back to us on that one:)
 
Haha yes! This is going to be great, Ash has already "volunteered" to be the victi- no, driver, so everyone give him a big applause!! :)
 
Right then, the are the rules/guidlines that we have to stick within for the device:

1. All flying machines must be launched from the 6m high runway, using only human power.

2. No auxiliary lifting devices, power sources, or stored energy (e.g. elastic, batteries, clockwork springs, rocket fuel etc) may be used.

3. Modified aircraft – e.g. paragliders, hang-gliders, jet-fighter planes, light aircraft, commercial jets etc – are not permitted.

4. Pilots are not permitted to be physically attached to the flying machine.

5. The wingspan of your flying machine must be less than 9m.

6. The wheelbase of the flying machine can be no more than 4m wide.

7. The maximum weight for the flying machine is 200kg - any heavier and our salvage teams might drown!

8. All flying machines must have some kind of buoyancy device on all major parts of the plane, to avoid them submerging on landing.

9. All competitors must wear the buoyancy aid and helmet provided by the event organisers.

10. For their own safety, all competitors must be able to swim unassisted a distance of 100m.

I think we have just came up with the grandest, silliest, easiest and most social-retarding idea ever!!

Just a clue - Ever seen a flying hotdog mounted by a cowboy? :sly:
 
Also, have you ever seen 4 people dressed as hot dogs dancing to the fast food song?

Hmm... cover a Boeing 737 in feathers and cardboard, and cheat!

The preflight checks and need for a 2 mile runway could be a giveaway though.

THE PLAN​

Right here it is, our stage 1 idea that no doubt we shall build on.

What we are thinking is fast food, everyone loves the stuff!! And so we annouce the Hot-Dog... Thing!!! Powered by Ash's feet it will reach a max speed of roughly 2 mph before setting off on its peaceful flight and hitting hell in the shape of a scottish ocean. :)

Here's an early artist's impression:

Now as you can see, our 4 very beautiful Hot Dog dancers (including me) will open the performance with a 25 second dance rountine to that crappy fast food song from last year or whenever, then, Ash will run up behind us in a cowboy suit, mount his stallion, the Hot-Dog Mobile and fly to his certain death.

That ladies and gentleman, will get us first place.
