Assetto Corsa making you a better sim racer?

Empty Box said he improved his drifting skills using AC, thats why he manage to correct those crazy out of control oversteer while racing, especially for mid engine. I think he mentioned it on Evora video or one of his Iracing videos, not sure.

As for me, I became more patient and smooth on my driving and became more consitant on my lap than the old GT5 days.

Any sim with decent, consistent physics can help you become a better sim racer. I love AC and I think it's promising, but to say that AC (as in, only AC in particular) helps you become a better sim racer is a little bit over the top.

If anything I'd dare say in its current state AC might even be less of a learning tool compared to other sims considering the lack of multiplayer and other features. This obviously due to the fact that it's in beta and not finished yet.

OP didn't say AC ( as in AC in particular).

I think any sim that represent's a good physics model will make you a better driver. Alot of the older PC titles and even console ones had tyres that gave an Icy like feel. Today all the developers have put alot of work into understanding how tyre grip work, iRacing has been updating their car's to have the newer tyre model which has made the cars feel much better.

When I first started iRacing, I didn't like what the back tyres were doing and it didn't feel very realistic with certain cars to me. It had good FFB on the wheel but the tyre model just didn't feel right.

My skills have been improving and bad habits from other driving games have been diminishing and my lap times have been getting better and better. I have currently got a time of 1:45.400 on that shining red challenge as compared to some of the 1:47 times I have been having and I have been crashing less when I use no assists. I'm not even thinking of playing GT6 or another track based driving game because I might undo all of that practice.

For me I got much much better and learned to do a lot of small tweaks like how to prepare the suspension before getting in a high speed turn etc. It's hard to accept going into something less realistic, as once you taste the real thing you only want more ;)

So would the gentlemen here agree, that AC is currently "the best" out there for it's physics and how the cars feel in general (driving feel)?

I haven't seen a single person so far that doesn't seem excited about it.

This is the internet and you'll get a ton of people who vehemently oppose that statement.

Personally, yes, I think it's the best feeling sim out there. Only one that comes close is GSC, but I prefer AC. Hopefully the netcode is decent and some fun online racing develops. And some good mods. I wouldn't mind AC being my main racer going forward. Not a bit.

Yeah im ac all the way. Once mp and career are implemented i see no reason to play anything else unless its something one off say thunderbolt track on iracing. Thats my home track and love running virtual laps there.

I have driven so far GT5, NFS Shift 2 (with the physics mod), Project Cars, Rfactor and for me AC has the most natural car feeling. It's a lot easier to predict how your car react and to control it.

I find iRacing on cars with NTM5 to be better, but my computer struggles a bit graphically with AC and I suspect it affects the physics somewhat still. I'll hopefully be in a better position to judge soon if I can afford a new graphics card.

Cheers! Although PCARS is looking a bit grander in general than AC, i know that if once you get to enjoy excellent physics it is difficult to settle for something where you don't get that feel. Much racing games to finish still on current Gen this year, but PC is looking more and more likely to be my next platform choice 👍
