Not sure where this belongs... well, other than on my desk, but as for the thread, I suppose this part of the forum makes sense:

It may belong more in the "Computers & Design" section?

Anyway, that's a very high price. Like the post above, probably due to the logo...

Either way, it is ridiculously pointless to have a laptop that small with that much power. I can't imagine how cramped each one of those parts is into that thing.

If they removed the Lamborghini badge off the back, I'd consider buying it. When I saw it, it instantly reminded me of:

And as Joey puts it, "Only an idiot would wear this stuff if he didn't have the car!"

True. These laptops have been around for years haven't they. Also there are the Ferrari ones by Acer. All stupendously expensive for the spec.

As someone who has overpaid for things with Porsche logos on them before, I can understand the appeal. Nevertheless, spending that much on a Laptop (from Asus!) is difficult to swallow.

These were the guys who did the Ferrari ones for a while too, right?

Agreed. Then again, it has Lamborghini badging, so it's always going to be expensive

Crap, I knew this would happen if I posted that

Actually I'm just as guilty, if not more so. I use this:

:guilty:

Although to be fair, someone gave it to me...

Waste of money. Lamborghini is good at making tractors, the laptop is overpriced for a badge that has nothing to do with it. Even someone who is a fan of their tractors wouldnt buy it because he likes their machinery, not their microchips. I hope.

I think the Acer Ferrari ones are a bit nicer, in my opinion. Having carbon fiber and just a little bit of Ferrari here and there is nice. The Lambo ones reflect the Lambo style of in your face design, however.

Any clue what the photo with the wheel is? I'd have to guess its a fan cover, but that would leave rather big openings for a notebook. It isn't visible on their 360* view.

They open just like a Lamborghini Countach door does! Wait a second, so does my Toshiba Satellite.

The point is exclusivity, although that's a minor point to justify a major price: After all, you could buy a $5,000 cell phone or $10,000 wrist watch that performs like one that's one-tenth or one-hundredth of the cost, but has a less glamorous name and higher production figure.

Although there will be a collector's market for a Lamborghini car and fine watch in the future, but the computer will be obsolete or non-functioning in 5-10 years. The expensive cell phone will be dead in 2-3 years, most likely. I can't imagine too many people paying lots of money in the future for these items, although within a certain circle, the rare laptop or cellphone will be worth, say...$50, where as all others will be garage-sale fare or trash can fillers.

Still, $50 from $3000 is a terrible investment.

Man... I think I'll take my desktop which is 3x better and half the price... Has a bigger monitor... and 320g HDD? How do you live off of something so small!

Hey, I've only got 60G on my laptop. Some of us aren't loaded with an ungodly amount of money.

16 GB SSD FTMFW!

I'll take the low memory to have the rather nice sub-60 second boot time on XP.

Eh?

Y'know, I wonder if Lambo chose ASUS because Ferrari chose ACER....

Wow, they had to go and ruin it with the manky power adaptor from my mum's Travelmate, didn't they? Why couldn't they do something interesting and pretty with it? It's like buying a Ford GT and getting a Mk2 Mondeo key. Which you do, incidentally.

Lucky YOU. I never knew they did 160GB. Are they US only?

Not sure. I got mine from Newegg, which sells 3 HDD configurations. 120GB w/3cell battery, 120GB w/six-cell battery (what I ordered), and a 160GB (not sure what battery is supposed to be on that, mine does have the six cell).
