Today was procrastination MR day for me.

Maserati MC20
54.5x - Does everything well. I really should be focusing on this one.

Lamborghini Countach LP400
55.5x - A missile on the straightaways. Highest top speed of this group. But no front downforce. Twitchy.

Toyota MR2 - No Swap - Low RPM Turbo
54.8x - Well balanced and LOUD.

Chevrolet Corvette C8 - Stock suspension and no weight reductions because why not?
55.0x - The C8 hides its weight with the power of science. The suspension handled my silliness admirably. Playful on throttle.

De Tomaso Pantera - No Swap - No Brakes
55.1x - Naturally Aspirated V8 noises + point and shoot driving. We don't talk about the braking distances.

Alpine A110 Premiere Edition - Low RPM Turbo
55.2x - Slower than expected. Too much rotation when releasing the brakes. PP system punishes it for being too light. Also LOUD (❤️)

Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.3 Road Car - Suzuki VGT Gr.3 Swap
54.7x - Perhaps it could faster with shorter gear ratios. I was too tired to set the gearbox. The Japanese engine makes the car sound more Italian now.

It was a nice change of pace. Though slower, I like the rotation I got from these cars on and off the throttle; especially in the middle of the track. This challenge has exposed my bad habits here. I'm braking too late into the hairpins and running too wide in the second and final hairpin. Also, I need to rethink my tuning.

The Smoothbore Express
Everything normal (and a bunch of very NOT normal cars) that I've tested has formed a line behind the Mitsubishi Evo Final Gr.B Road Car. What's up with this car? It's doing Godzilla things.

@smoothbore12 , chasing your time feels like chasing 1% gold in the Time Trials. Seriously great lap. My best is 53.2x. My goal is to match your time by end of this challenge. I'll see what times I can get out of it at the 700pp Alsace race later.

There are a lot of good Cars and surprising results. Well done!

I did return to Tsukuba yesterday and am happy that I slightly improved my best 4wd lap time with an Evo without too much magic as I am working on future rules.

I did try some FWD as well but cannot replicate the magic lap with the Megane and give this up. Unfortunately I have no clou how to drive a RWD! Of course I went with a Sileighty as I love this Car but I keep sliding (a bad habbit...). MR is better as my best lap so far was with the Cayman but still a lot slower than @911RSR.

I will keep at it until next tuesday as I won't have time for serious lapping any more until 11th of May. Have a good time and hopefully free labour day!

Great lap times @rheinaoi

I think I've hit my limit with the Evo VIII @51.3. Something in me really wants that sub 51, but I doubt I'm quick enough. Maybe someone else has the finesse to get it there.

So far I haven't done any more laps with "normal" tunes and need to build tamer versions of the NSX '02, RX7 Spirit R, R34 GT-R and have yet to test the Evo X Road Car. Eager to see what times those are capable of.

@Gorefast @Meythia the NSX has great handling, but is not an easy car to set up. I'll share my settings when I get around doing some further testing.

The Smoothbore express at Alsace is like Orca the killer whale , i bet 53:s in clean air won't be a trouble at 670 pp configuration, at least that was my best .

No improved times on my end.
Tried NSX 02 and felt really good but was really slow.
Also had a run on Subaru 22B - best lap but this car has a "cheat engine" ...
I may have missed it in this thread but could you please elaborate on the cheat engine? Do you mean it's regular engine or the Rally car engine swap? Is it a cheat because the latter only adds 4 or so PP but a lot of HP?

Those engine swaps are legal in this round but some despise this measure as it allows a lot more power without adding more PP as you said. That's why it might be Seen as a "cheat". We have to decide on this theme for next round.

I jokingly exagerated, it it the normal engine.
it has really high acceleration values just by the numbers, the rally engine swap goes even further.

Okay, this is it for me at Tsukuba. I had a small improvement today with the 370Z (an obvious choice for a Nissan guy) and won't have much racing time left until the 11th.

So, this is what I did:
1968c0ce9820-screenshotUrl.jpg

That means fastest over all and in AWD class is my Evo V GSR '98 with 54:656. Best RWD is my Fairlady Z (Z34) '08 with 55:855. The magic lap I could not repeat for FWD was in my Renault Megane R.S. Trophy '11 in 56:097. All laps are shared via PSN (#gorefast, #ataq670).

I don't expect anyone wanting to know my setups of these three but I would share if of interest... The Monster build of a Lancer Evo VIII MR GSR '04 with engine swap and short gear system was too fast for me to handle. Peace!

For the first event I would like to start at Tsukuba. It may lack originality but it is also the home of time attacking. You can start right now, the end will be at 11th of may 2025 at 17:00 CET. Have fun and be quick!
Is there a certain time of day at the track we need to use?

Personally I’m steering clear of the afternoon rain but to each their own. 🤣

Good luck this month guys, put your skills to the test. It's like going for an exam. Can't wait to see what times you get. Good luck to everyone!

I stopped procrastinating [slightly] and got some better overall results.

Ikon’s Meta Land Rocket VIII – 51.3
Miracle lap. Powersliding out of the hairpins only to forget how to take the final corner. Probably would have gotten a 51.1 if the stars aligned. They did not 🫠 I put a lot of ballast in the rear to fit my driving style more.

Jeep of Doom – 52.6
Death by oversteer on braking. Death by understeer on acceleration. The fast lap materialized when I embraced the inevitable

The Smoothbore Express – 53.1
Getting closer 👀 This car will be VERY strong in the next challenge under the current regulations.

Now back to my usual procrastination

Ford GT40 MKI – 53.9
My new fastest MR! I saw a friend run a 59 at 550pp on Sport Softs, sooooo… yeah. The weight distribution is very much old Porsche 911. Amazing grip everywhere, but especially in the middle of the track.

CLUB 55.7

Alpine A110 ‘72 – Silvia Swap – 55.7
My slow hero. I’ve been grappling with traction problems under acceleration for a while. Ballast and over 60% of the weight over rear wheels gave me back the handling I had loved from the previous updates. Viva la Rear Weight Bias!!

Volkswagen 1200 – Porsche Beetle – 55.7
Technically insane, but ultimately just OK. Great top speed. OK grip. Somehow longer braking distances than the Pantera 🫠

Pontiac Firebird Trans Am ‘78 – 55.7
Coolest FR car (not just because my father had one). Fire Chicken decal on the hood is mandatory. The regular engine sounds amazing. Surprisingly balanced handling, and OK grip under heavy acceleration. But I did put A LOT of ballast in the trunk. It has no front downforce because PD wanted to give the other Muscle and Pony cars a chance.

FF Heroes

Volkswagen Scirroco – 55...8
Great handling and grip, but the PP system seems too strict with it. A chunky boy who knows how to dance.

Citroen DS21 – No Swap No Power – 58.5 - 607pp
Terrible traction when acceleration out of low speed corners, even for an FF. Lots of trail braking needed for corner entries because I loaded the front with ballast. However, it is GLORIOUS from mid corner and when eventually finds traction. You must see your driver avatar trying to do Time Trial shifts with the column shifter.

TUNING THOUGHTS
Mostly I add ballast and sacrifice brakes to allow for grippiest tires. The extra weight strategically placed also helped a lot of (FR) cars be less annoying to drive. Since tires are fixed, I’m not sure. Minimizing weight has so far, been my most effective PP trick.

Are there any rules?
It is my aim to allow as many different cars as you like. That's why you can bring any road car with a limit of 670 power points (PP) and racing medium tyres.

I thought for the current run we are supposed to use racing mediums only?
Did I miss a change of rules on the pages in between?

(I personally would always use sport soft).

Yes, at Tsukuba the Racing Medium tyres are mandatory. Updated rules for the next round (that poll might lead to a coin toss...) are not finished yet but it will probably change to Sport Soft tyres for all.

There is a lot time left but I like to remind all participants to publish a picture with the lap times they want to make count for RWD, FWD and AWD until the 11th of May at 17:00 CET. I will publish the results on monday as I am away for the weekend...

All my builds for this challenge are on Racing Mediums. I was reflecting on how the cars being all on the same tires forced me to rethink my tuning.

Sorry to come up with this, but wasn't it one of the rules that this time it is only for road cars?
GT7 Classifies the Ford GT40 MKI as a Road Car.

Side Note, it makes me a little sad that the GT40 gets the Road Car Tag, but the Porsche 904 does not.
