I tried to attach a file and got a nasty error, I presume it is a post server move hiccup.

PHP:
Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/gtplanet/vb_attachments/d988e9f7c3ccace8f787d4c0a47606e8): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/gtplanet/public_html/forum/includes/functions_file.php on line 274

Warning: filesize(): Stat failed for /home/gtplanet/vb_attachments/d988e9f7c3ccace8f787d4c0a47606e8 (errno=2 - No such file or directory) in /home/gtplanet/public_html/forum/includes/functions_file.php on line 286

I saw the same error while trying to attach a file in the "lets see your desktops" thread. Looks like a file/folder permissions problem.

I can't post attachments either.
Let's see here...I'll attach one to this post as a test. Yep, you guys are right. Apparently our server's version of PHP wasn't compiled with GD (which makes the thumbnails). I'll get this fixed as soon as I can.

EDIT: Alright, it's fixed now! The attachments that were posted after we moved to our new server, and before I fixed this will still probably not show up. But, in order to show them I would have to rebuild all the thumbnails on the site and that could take several hours of downtime so I don't think it's worth it. But, if you have posted any attachments that you really want to have a thumbnail, just delete them from your posts and upload them again and they will appear as normal. :)

Rather than opening a new thread....

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=87600

In post #2 I have had for a very long time 2 attachments. I recently discovered that my own attachment was giving a Windows error:
The compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted.

I asked Smallhorses to download this zipfile and see if he too had this error when opening it. Answer: Yes.

I checked the original excel spreadsheets. Zipped both files again. Deleted the old attachments and uploaded the 2 newly zipped files again.

Now to check to see if they actually worked I opened and I also tried to download first and then open but in both cases and on both zipped files I get the same error message.

My original Excel - version 2003 file is approx 220kb (zipped 55kb)
and Fizio's excel file is approx 109kb (zipped 30kb)

Question:
What can I do to ensure these files can be opened and used by GTP members again?

AMG.

Both are working fine for me using Excel '07.

Same here, I can view them fine in Excel '07. I really don't know what to tell you, AMG - I don't think there is anything that I can tell you to do differently with our forum software that would give you better results.

Thx for looking in to it!

Just a thought AMG, are you and Smallhorses running older versions of excel to read these files? Like say the '03 version from Microsoft office??

That may be the source of the problem. :)

Dont think it is as I created the files in Excel 2003 and put them on GTP. It's just weird that the zip file (XP version) is messing up.

Anyway it seems to be not too much of an issue. :)
