As you well know, I am at the University of South Florida, studing Architecture and I need some help.

I have a paper coming up for my Arch. History class and I need a topic. Basicly I can talk about anything up till the time period of Rome. One huge thing is, anything well known, is not a possiblity for our papers. So I need something a little obscure(sp?). It can be a building or a building type. It would be good if it had a story, like if there was a purpose behind it and people that influenced it. Knowing that there are books on it would also help, since this teacher does not believe in internet sources. Thanks guys!

Any ideas are helpful. 👍

Well, just recently there was a article in the news about underwater caves found in mexico that were originally not underwater (8000 years ago).

As an example. While it may not be "built" architecture, it is a natural form that creates architecture. At which point, you could bring in various discussion about what consitutes "architecture" for people of that time.

When you reach back to pre-Rome, there's not much left that isn't well known. I've got an old Architectural History book (published in 1883) that I'll pull out and scan through to see if I can find another subject that is plausible.

Good luck,

AO

I knew you would pull through for me! I am going to look into these caves and see what else I can did up. I also like your point about what makes architecture for ancient people, it would allow me to bring in other examples throughout the world, making for a more theory based paper thats not all consumed with opinion. Which is what I think the professor is trying to pull out of us.
Again, thanks and let me know if their is another direction that you find that could be better suited. 👍
