Not really sure what forum this should go in (car forum? design forum? website forum?) so here will do for now sorry until someone finds a more appropriate place.

Our car club is in drastic (according to me just now) need of a consistant website and forum look (preferably something light and clean like it is now) and we still don't have a official club logo after about two or three years!

www.southernskylines.com

There is discussion that the quickly (i think) made logo we've been kinda using isn't favoured by all the members which is one reason i've asked for help like this.

Pretty much every other car club in the country has its own unique look and we are kinda lacking behind a bit, which may be restricting new members signing up.

Some (but certainly not all) other NZ car clubs;

www.skylinesdownunder.com
www.nissansilvia.co.nz
www.d1nz.org.nz
www.datsun.co.nz
www.300zx.net.nz
www.primeracarclub.co.nz
www.clubsub.org.nz
www.girlspeed.co.nz
www.msport.co.nz
www.nzhondas.com

The thing is that we can't afford to pay someone to professionally redesign everything etc as the hosting costs and domain name costs are taking up most of the very little money there is (less than $100 in the club account - mainly because there aren't a whole lot of paid members and we can't figure out how to get them to pay/sign up).

So any ideas or anything? I'm posting this on behalf, the owner of the site etc lives four-five hours north of me but i'm pretty much second in charge there.

Oh my Sage, the anti-aliasing on the § kinda got killed, there. :p Out of interest, what font is that?

Yeah, I know. ;) The problem is that I wanted the weight of the § to be the same as the rest of the text – as you know, a larger font size makes for a heavier weight. So, I added a black inset stroke to the § to thin it out, but couldn’t get the antialiasing quite right. I’ll try harder though if Mustang-man actually wants to use it. :)

Its name shows up as BlairMdITC TT, but TT stands for TrueType, and ITC stands for International Typeface Corporation, and Md stands for Medium. So, Blair. ;)

Pretty good effort, something i wouldn't have throught of doing. But unfortunately the biggest critics are the other members of the club who seem to never be satisfied. :(

Mustang-Man, I will assist you!

edit: What are the dimensions you're looking for, though?

I'm not on MSN much anymore sorry guys, so contact will have to be made either in this topic, at Southern Skylines or via e-mail. :) :(

How's this?

edit: Crap. forgot .com.

Pretty cool. :) I'm guessing the font 'Skylines' is written in was just another image instead of a font face?

The logo would have to be suitable to be placed on a car too. :s

Correct. Ripped it off a wallpaper from the japanese nissan site. Southern is my handwriting, though. :) I like it.

If you screen printed the stickers, it wouldn't look bad. What that does is print every color except black. I made them small and subtle on purpose, though. I don't know if the people on your site want this big giant sticker on their windsheild and crap. They're designed for like the small of a rear window or something.

$25? Bah!

Sage, Blake, what do you guys think of my logos?

Nice one Omnis, looks sweet 👍

Mustang-man: Once you've sorted the logo out you should really get a new favicon too :p The one you have at the moment is a bit garish.

Well, you’re not going to get an unbiased opinion from me, because that kind of artwork really isn’t my kind of style. ;) (Too “Orange County Choppers” for me.) In particular, the “Southern” part is typographic blasphemy, because it doesn’t make sense to make a script font have inner matte reflections and glow.

However, the “GT” part is really nicely rendered – did you use Photoshop for that, or a 3D app like Bryce?

The whole thing is photoshop. I put lightsaber effects on the Southern. Also, like I said, the southern isn't a font, it's my handwriting. I figured i'd jazz it up for some graffiti-like action. I could also just write Southern out on my tablet again... Hahahaha.
