As the class 1 regulations were being developed, Audi was hard at work developing a new car for the upcoming season, powered by a new 2.5L V6 making around 338 ps and screaming to around 10,500 rpm. Unfortunately, a late regulations change involving the addition of weight penalties not initially in the ruleset caused Audi to balk, and lead to the cancellation of the program.
The car still exists in Audi's private collection in Stuttgart, and it would be great to drive this caged beast in anger as it was built to do.
