Audi R10 with DS3, anyone?

Got to my 1st 20 million cut-off last week and decided to finally buy some cars so bought an R10 and an F10 - still deciding how to spend the other 5+ million.
I'd heard that the 908 FAP mirrors its real-life advantage over the Audi but I've followed Team Joest since the R8 broke cover and couldn't go for the new enemy!
So whilst wishing it was an R15 I took to Suzuka to work on the set-up... hmmm. I can consistently lap at 1:58.5 but it feels... slow. The problem is with torque in 3rd, I'm so late on the throttle it's ridiculous - any earlier and she gets a massive tank-slapper.
Basically I'm wondering how successful people are with the R10 using the DS3? I'm using the D-pad which doesn't help but if others have gelled with it I'll go back to the set-up drawing board.

(This is more about feel than outright tuning but if it helps I'll post my settings later, cheers).

Use the sticks! You get a much better feel of the car.

Hmm, I've tried in the past but I'm absolutely useless using the sticks.
I've got 'gold' on all licenses and "special events" using the D-pad and triggers and haven't had any issues with any other car so...
Like I said I'm just wondering if anyone else has gelled with the R10 using the DS3, barring a high TCS I'm a bit lost.
If Polyphony have made the 908's engine drivable and the R10's not, I'm slightly exasperated.

The R10 has strange settings for the rear ride height. The highest you can set it is -10 while the front settings are normal (-15 to +10). I did only some quick tweaks to the car so far, but to get any enjoyable behavior, I had to equalize front and rear ride height to -10 for both. Usually I prefer 0/0 for racecars. I use sticks with TCS=0.

I'd be interested with what tires and BHP your consistent Suzuka laps where done?

BHP was/is 661 I think, seems to jump around a bit (small increments). I was running 'mediums' front and back, I normally set the cars up on their respective 'hard' compounds but just had no rear grip to do it this time.
The ride heights do read weirdly, think I'd gone with -10/-25 but given the handling difficulties this wasn't necessarily correct, more clutching at straws.
As it happens I started from scratch and tried finding a balance with the LSD only, low and behold I've cracked it. Can now run the hard compound and should be able to do some meaningful suspension set-up now!

The previous runs were set with ABS=3 TCS=1
Should be able to run TCS off now.

Well, with the LSD set to 7/10/20 and some (time consuming) suspension set-up work I'm able to run 1:53.5s consistently (5 lap runs). That's with TCS=0 and on the hard compound.
Nice to finally have an R10 that you can really push.

Sounds impressive! I'll give the LSD settings a try once my Bobs finished the Dreamcar Challenge. Bought an F10 yesterday to gift it to a friend for birthday and now the boys have to get the money back. ;)

Nice, still haven't turned a wheel in the F10, the engine start noise was disappointing so I worked on the R10 instead.
If you run that LSD you can easily start dialling in the rest of the car; if you run a softer compound you can probably change the diff's acceleration value.
I would recommend running a 'rear damper compression' of 6 though, helps over the kerbs.
Camber and toe were pretty hard to nail down, still not convinced with mine.
