Not sure if this has been posted or anyone else does this but I listen to Audio Books while I do the long races.

I really helps the time to go by quickly.

Right now I am listening to the "Devil in the White City". I get so involved in the story, I sometimes forget I am racing.

Almost done with it, need to get some more Audio Books as I plan on doing a LOT of endurance racing on my vacation all next week.

Thought I would pass this along.

would it take away your concentration? It's multitasking and we men can't multitask very well

If they have Diary of a Wimpy Kid on audiobook then I'll start doing Endurance Races.

I could totally listen to any of The Dresden Files on audiobook while doing an endurance race!

Have a feeling someone is going to try to learn a language using this techinique (see video below, but lets pretend it's GT5)! LOL :)

I do this all the time. Right now I'm listening to Brandon Sandersons' Mistborn series (again).

I highly recommend any book read by Michael Kramer.

It definitely helps to pass the time but I would recommend only listening to something you have already read or listened to.

Estoy bien, y tu?

I dislike audio books. I do however read actual books while Bob drives for a bit 👍

Decent Idea 👍

Thanks! I thought it was. :)

When you are on your 50/100/200th Lap of a course. Trust me you know it so well you can do it in your sleep. You will forget you are even racing and just be into whatever you are listening to.

Though, doing this I have ran out of gas a few times as I am not paying attention to my fuel gauge...

Would that learn me Frisian?

I listen to loads of Ricky Gervais Show podcasts when doing longer races or testing out cars.

If I can't hear the car I can't drive it right. So, no.

I listen to heavy metal every time I drive. I never get bored.

I do that sometimes. My buddy DJs a Heavy Metal Internet Radio Station. I listen to him talk and play some killer music while I race on Thursday nights.

I regularly listen to podcasts (about 30min-1hr each) while driving in online practice or racing events.

I can't do music because the constant beat throws off my braking points or makes me drive too aggressively and make errors. I like a nice podcast though as you might learn something during supposed "leisure time" spent on Gran Turismo.

Same thing with my commute; I feel like that's time that would be wasted otherwise but now I enjoy it.

Here is another idea that I think is brilliant:

I bring my laptop down when I am on my PS3 sometimes. I run a league and I keep track of tunes. Would be awesome if someone ran a TS or Vent server. Everyone doing endurance races could plug a headset into whatever computer they can get near their PS3 and be social while they drive around.

I admit, I don't really do much A-spec, so I don't know that I'd ever actually mess with an endurance race. Since there is no realistic damage or mechanical failure in GT5, I can't see having fun doing an online endurance race either, unfortunately.

When I finally golded last weeks GTR TT, I was actually singing along to the Beatles  I did find it made me drive more aggressivley, presumbly because I was paying less attention to the car ("Oh crap... BRAKE! CAN'T TURN! GRASS!") and more to the music. But it turned out to be a good thing for that TT anyhow, my shortcoming in that car intially was aggressiveness.
