Good or great? I think they're effing awesome; their album is really growing on me but I think I still like Cochise, but there are a few great songs. So in other words get off your ass and buy this album or at worst acquire it through different means.

Talented musicians, what a concept, don't ya think? Take Rage Against the Machine, remove De La Rocha and insert Chris Cornell and you have a damn good band.

Onn paper it's a great band, but all I've heard is Cochise, which I do like. I think Morello has more melodic solo ability than he shows in that song. Hopefully he shows more of his talent on the rest of the album.

And I absolutely hate everything about DeLaRocha - his voice, his politics, his whining, his hair... so removing him from the RATM lineup can only be good. I heard that they would record the album instrumentally, then send it to him to sing over after it was done, so I can't imagine he contributed much musically, anyway.

That's true, but after a couple months with the album I'm not as impressed as I was at first. I've been a Soundgarden and RATMachine fan for many years (hell, I even bought Cornell's solo album) and I was glad to hear about Audioslave. When my friend & I (both guitar players for 10+ years) first listened to the album we agreed: 'it sounds like Cornell doing karaoke to a bunch of RATM songs,' which kinda makes sense. But when Morello's solo on Like A Stone came on we stopped, mid-sentence and slack-jawed. Amazing. There's a few standout moments like that and there's nothing specifically wrong with the album, but it's just not as good as I thought it should be.

I've only heard "Cochise". It's an ok song, but doesn't grow on me much. And i can't seem to find the actual CD version of the song...just the shatty radio edit.

audioslave suck. zack leaving rage was supposed to mark the END of the music...but now they just got a new singer and it's like deja vu. rage against the machine v2...the band itself hasn't in the least found a new style of music or changed it at all, so it's basically rage and some other guy singing about some other stuff...it's boring...maybe cause i was such a big rage fan and listened to rage for so long it seems boring to hear the same music just with chris cornell singing absolute shiiiiiite on top of it.

^^^^^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!^^^^^^^^

Dude that hurt!!

Yea...Rage were good.....but the music is quite a bit different from the old rage.........take Killing in the name of....i cant find any song on the Audioslave CD that sounds anyhting like it......maybe set it off but not really....

I think that audioslave are bloody awesome and bought their CD as soon as it got to New Zealand.....BLOODY AWESOME!!!!

I cant seem to find any guitar solo on that song. its just morello ****in' a fx pedal, wich dont goes with my style. I tought audioslave would be WAY better when I heard it was gonna happen. but it was a real dissapointment.

Cano

oh, well, maybe I have to try harder... but, nope...

Audioslave is great! I have the album and the songs are really nice IMO. Everything is good for me. I'm not exactly a big fan of RATM or Soundgarden ( never heard Soundgarden before ) but since listening to the tracks Cochise and Like A Stone has really got me into the band.

Listen to their songs especially Shadow of the Sun and also Gasoline. They're good IMO.

 Audioslave

audioslave are real good

like a stone........thats the best chill out song. just lying on me bed listening to that is really relaxing..............makes you unp!ssed off (if that even is a word)

i want to buy their album.....but lack of money$$$$$

Audioslave rocks. Still. It comes second to Linkin Park to me. My favourite Audioslave song would have to be. Set it Off. :D

audioslave is awesome. To say they're better than RATM or Soundgarden is an overstatement. AS has only 1 album out right now which makes it a bit more difficult to compare them to what's already out there (like soundgarden and ratm). Seeing as how it's their first album, it may also be that they're still not 100% with working with eachother because in some songs Cornell's voice just doesn't seem to *fit* right.

As a MASSIVE Rage fan I thought Audioslave were just a big dissapointment. The reason I liked Rage was for their polliticalness and I suppose the rap funk rock they did. Audioslave are just way to melow for me. I especially hate Cornell's voice. He just sounds lazy to me, with his voice..... bah.

Also I heard somewhere that after Rage and Zak left that Tom said he'd never join another band or do anything else. Then Cornell came a long and bought him out.
Zak and Tom were the main front men for Rage. Tim barely had any imput in the songs. It was just mainly Zak and Tom who wrote the songs, and Tim and Brad just filled in.

Zach was *supposed* to make an album with DJ Shadow but something happened part way through and they never officially finished it

emad your info is a bit off, he was doing a few tracks with Shadow, the instrumentals or on his website. He was also working with Trent Reznor, DJ Muggs and some other producers.

I really love the Audioslave album, and this coming from someone who owns and loves the whole library from RATM and Soundgarden. Saying you hate Audioslave because they aren't as political as RATM is absurd. Zach was the reason for RATM's political statements, and that's what eventually caused the end of RATM, Tom was about the music, Zach is about the message. And in my opinion, when you think Soundgarden, you think Chris Cornell. So for me, Audioslave is taking what I liked best about RATM and Soundgarden and bringing them together. That said, what this produces seems to me to be completely unique from either of the 2 original bands, one can listen to all 3 of the bands at different times and appreciate each of their independent qualities. Yes, RATM is waay more hard, and Soundgarden can be waaay more deep and melodic, but there is something about Audioslave, maybe because its pure, basic, simple rock from guys who know how to do it best, and who are doing it for the love of music that makes it sound better each time I hear it. But then again, I may be wrong, LOL! Just my 2 cents.....
