Audiosurf is coming out on Steam this Friday. If you don't know what it is, here's a sample:

It's a beautiful music game that works with any mp3 file on your computer. When you load each song, the game analyzes its beats, tempos, notes, and tones, and creates the undulating highway you see. There are also several different ways to play, varying in speed, difficulty, and simplicity. The player in the video is using Ninja Mono, which means they need to collect the colored bricks and avoid the gray ones.

I already know it's awesome, as I was lucky enough to hear about it while the public beta sessions were taking place last month. :)

If you preorder it before Friday, you get a dollar off the purchase price, which is already a steal at just $10. 👍

Or slow.

It reminds me of the graphics of 'The Game' in the eponymous Star Trek TNG episode.

Conspiracy theory, anyone? :D

I can't watch the video right now but judging by the screens it seems similar to the PS2 game Amplitude.

Who downloaded it and is currently playing? I'm having driver issues of sorts. Assuming driver issues anyways. The 'ship' is barely visable at times, and the blocks are invisible. Not sure what other graphical elements can't be seen, but it sucks that I can't play the game..... it looks quite entertaining.... Running the latest nVidia drivers, vista-32bit.

I assume you've tried fiddling with the limited options Audiosurf gives you? Adjusting the graphic detail setting, turning anti-aliasing on/off, disabling HT&L (in resolution window), using the reference rasterizer (in resolution window), trying it windowed and in full-screen...

If none of the options in Audiosurf change anything, it sounds like a Z-buffer issue to me. You might want to see what options the display control panel gives you -- forcing the Z-buffer into its highest setting (16-bit or 24-bit depending on the video card) could fix the problem.

Well, got it working... Just had to delete the game and re-download/install and all is well.... :)

I got the demo, the game is fun but a bit confusing at first. I guess it's pretty hard in higher levels.

Let's use this thread to recommend fun songs to other Audiosurf players. The more bumps, hills, twists, and turns, the better! :)

Here are a few of my favorites:
  • M83 -- Teen Angst
  • Digitalism -- Pogo
  • Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 -- Last Utopia/Holy Land Anthem (I made an mp3 combining the two)

Well if you really want to FEEL the music i would recommend
Vanessa Mae - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
Tones of Bumps Hills but no twists..

Just installed and played this game (I download the demo version) and it was quite fun to play. Very interesting indeed and really make use of my mouse's sensitivity. 👍 Its a good game to play if you feel very bored, at least its something different other than Guitar Hero or O2Jam. :D

^O2Jam, haven't played that in years...

I only tried a few AC/DC songs with Audiosurf for now, it was cool.

lol, i just downloaded it and i can't stop playing it!!!!!!!!!:drool::drool::drool:

omg, this game kicks soo much ass, i love it! i have a few playlists that i use for it. i'll pm anyone the playlists if anyone wants. i'd post em now, but my mom put this stupid ChildSafe thing on my computer, and it says "Your computer time is about to expire. You have X minutes to save your work. Remember to save your work." for the last 5 minutes of computer time.(sorry for going off-subject, but... plz help with that????)

anyway, peace! gotta go *runs hella fast*

Audiosurf is only $2.49 today on steam. 👍 I think i'm going to buy the game now... i should be studying:dunce:
