Welcome to the August Difficult Car, the Mustang GT! But which one you ask? Well, I would prefer if the focus was on the Mustang GT '05, but since people love premium cars, and the premium car handles almost as piggish as the standard, we can tune the Mustang GT '07 Premium Pack car too. I'm honestly excited for this car! I'm very interested to see what you guys can do with her! I'm also excited to see if Ridox would be kind enough to grace us with a replica, there's certainly enough to choose from! So without further ado, let the tuning begin!
 
Nice choice :) I built 3 Saleen Mustang replicas back in GT5 via hybriding - was special request for another GTP member, I fixed driver animation in gear change as well :) Already made GT6 version since release day, not as good without hybriding, but should be fun to drive, I know I love my Dark Horse :lol:

This time a testing/tuning session at Indy Road Course - one of my favourite track. The car is Ford Mustang GT premium tuned to 600+HP. I really like the sound of the exhaust and I fixed driver gear changing animation in cockpit view and replay view. Track view replay after cockpit view replay.

No ABS, 9/5 BB, comfort soft, grip real. Time is 1:50.6xx with plenty time to gain.

God I miss my 600+HP Devil Z L28TT and GT86 TT 600+HP :D

This awesome car took the world by storm, affordable, compact, and bags of fun.
A tuning/testing lap done on a newly built 86 GT Turbo at 600+HP, track is Madrid City, grip real, no ABS, comfort soft as usual, 9/5 BB. Time is at 1:38.569, the car is so much fun to drift around corners. Cockpit cam then track cam :D
Scion FRS and Subaru BRZ S Turbo are also built at similar spec.

This car is kind of a pain to tune, but I think after an hour of tinkering I've got it right. the 63/37 weight distribution is not only wrong but totally throws off the car's balance.

This car isn't very easy to drive, nor is it very competitive unfortunately. It might be very fast on straights, but it loses out on cornering speed. If piloted correctly, it should make for a nice, relatively balanced drive. This car may be used on up to Sports Soft tires, but require adding 1 to the Acceleration Sensitivity for each grade of tire above Sports Hard used.

I like the picture but it's the wrong year ;).

:) My bad, I have built about a month ago, the Mustang '05, it was a test build for FR500C Boy Racer replica, but it turned into PP build as it has wonky weight distribution :lol: Will post it soon when I get the chance to play in a day or two along with the pair of Saleen.

Recommended setting for DS3 user :

Steering sensitivity at +1 or +2, all aids off, except ABS 1 ( if not comfortable with ABS 0 ) with 3/5 brake balance as starting point.
Notes :

This car was originally built as replica of a Mustang race car, but I decided to tune it for a set PP level.

From research, I found several different weight distribution figure from 57/43, 55/45 and 52/48. In this 450PP build, I provided 2 set, 57/43 and 55/45 and 52/48 is not possible. Power is modest 273HP with 1450kg weight. Nothing fancy, hence the name cookie cutter pony :lol:

The Mustang has 2 set suspension based on 2 different setup, one is based on Blue Moon Control Freak IRS Kit for the rear end and the other is Cortex Racing Xtreme-Grip Kit similar to their SCAA Spec Mustang setup. Both setup works well on all weight distribution as I setup suspension for all around performer.

The LSD is setup with high preload and high lock to maintain stability and traction, roughly based on Traction-Lok Ford Racing Differential with custom Carbon Clutch upgrades. Not really accurate, but it perform exceptionally well even on comfort/street tires.

For gearing, I adapted Tremec TR6060 Close Ratio gearbox with custom final. The 4.900 final allows lower top speed and rapid acceleration.

The Cookie Cutter Pony was tuned and tested mainly at Tsukuba. The 450PP was able to lap in 1:05s range on comfort soft at Tsukuba using Control Freak IRS + 55/45, pretty decent for a Mustang. It has also been test driven at Bathurst and Nordschleife, and it drives quite well without much drama.

I have also included a replay of the 1:05s lap at Tsukuba which should be good for reference.

Saleen S281 has been sold for years in America :) This is 2007 model year S281E replica.

The Saleen S281E has 550HP power with 525 ft lb torque, the replica has been built as close as possible with 550HP/523ftlb. The real car weight is 1642kg or 3620lbs with 53/47 distribution, while in GT6 I can get the weight, but the distribution is at 56/44.

The S281E is equipped with N2 RaceCraft suspension upgrade from Saleen. With coilover springs + damper all around, but still retain the rear live axle with panhard rod. I have set the spring rate according to real life N2 RaceCraft spring rate, and tuned the damper + ARB to gives good balance. Several suspension alignment have also been provided. Try them all, and see which one fits you.

Gearing uses Tremec T56 in real life, a 6 close ratio speed manual with 4.1 final, the ratios are similar to the T56 used on Pontiac GTO and Holden Monaro. I have also included a 2nd set of ratio, Tremec TR6060 close ratio with better spread. The LSD is Saleen MaxGrip Speed Sensitive LSD, I tried to simulate the performance using lower preload and medium lock on acceleration + low lock on braking.

The Saleen S281E was tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Silverstone GP and Nordschleife. At Tsukuba, it can lap an easy 1:05s on comfort soft.

Saleen S302DH Dark Horse was a limited edition production run of 25 examples. Released in 2008 to 2009.

The Saleen S302DH has 620HP power with 600 ft lb torque, the replica has been built as close as possible with 620HP/603ftlb. The real car weight is around 1642 to 1653kg or 3620+lbs with 53/47 distribution, while in GT6 I can get the weight, but the distribution is at 56/44.

Thought I'd have a go at this car as it suited a few races I needed to do. Big challenge was to get the entry and mid corner rotation without losing too much traction on exit.
I've found it works well for my driving style with ds3 and ABS1. All other aids off.
