I was wondering if the terms "lol", "lmao", "rofl", and similar is considered text-speak. I see it used quite frequently across the forum -- mostly by responding to something funny -- and I don't really see any enforcement towards the usage. Just want to make sure this isn't an apparent exploitation or an accidental violation. Thanks!

Its actually a glitch and should be patched in the next GTP release 👍

See this thread (which is stickied at the top of The Rumble Strip):

GTP Three-letter acronyms explained.

Some usage of the things you mentioned are OK, such as use as a qualifier before/after a statement, e.g. "IIRC that race is only 4 laps" or "My brother just fell over! LOL!"

What we don't want to see is stuff like this:

"r u gonna b online 2nite m8. is NEbdy there. y is no1 there. reply b4 i go mad plz"

as it's basically gibberish and very difficult for non-native English speakers to interpret. 👎

Although repeatedly just posting "LOL" or "ROFL" as a single word response to things is liable to earn you a warning or infraction for useless / spam posting.
If used correctly within the context of a properly constructed post with capital letters and punctuation, they're OK.
