I thought it might be worth putting this information up here to clear up any misunderstandings or confusion about the term AUS/NZ only in the title of online lobbies.
This means that the host is from Australia or New Zealand and that players from those nations are welcome to join. This not a form of Xenophobia , there are good reasons why us "antipodeans" prefer to stick together when it comes to online racing on GT5.
Most of us don't have ultra fast connections. When compared to the rest of the western world , our internet infrastructure is a little dated. Fibre optic connections are available in some capital cities but most of us are still on ADSL connections.
We are a long way from anywhere , basically on the opposite side of the planet from Europe and America where the majority of players are from. You might live in Germany and have a fantastic connection but take into account the physical distance required for signals to travel PLUS the limitations of the network and most times the result is a laggy driver on course.
I have noticed that recently , most foreign players will leave as soon as they see the big lineup of AUS/NZ flags in the room but some obviously don't understand the meaning of the room title. I even saw a room hosted by a English player the other day with "NO AUS/NZ" in the title ! I had to laugh at that , fair enough too.
So that's it , I just wanted you guys to know we don't hate all foreigners. It's just our way of dealing with the limitations of PSN and our crappy internet ! We still have trouble with PSN in our AUS/NZ rooms as it is. It's enough to drive us all bonkers at times , so adding to those problems isn't desirable as I'm sure you can understand.
Thanks for reading .......group hug ?
