Well this is basically directed at Jordan..

Is it possible to get an Australian/New Zealand or possibly even an Australasian section in the GT5 forum? Most people don't know this but we can't race close with other cars as the lag makes it impossible so if there was a home for us we could organise our own races to suit our own time zones and stuff. As for a name I was thinking something ultra cliché like ANZAC Cove. It's a name that's instantly recognisable by us down here so any new members from this region will find it straight away.

I know the NGG fellas are here but tbh I want to race on GTPlanet, no offence to those guys 👍

Wouldn't it just be easier to make a group? Or even just a thread within the section?

I couldn't imagine having a section for Aussie's only ending well as than everyone would want their own which would kind of defeat the point of having an international community.

There won't be any geographically divided sub-forums for general discussion of the game, but that may be something to consider for new competition areas.

No worries, was worth asking :)

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not after a general discussion area, just a place to organise stuff for this region only.

I would specially like that, mostly because of the lag issues which would be presumably less pronounced as we're competing against geographically nearby opponents, and therefore likely to be on closer servers.

A continental division would be nice, not only by the mentioned lag ratio, as well as for better matching the time zones. Americas could all be joined into a single forum.

Yeah, just make a group. You can make your own discussions there :)👍

Are the groups public tho? If it was a subforum then even guests could see the section which hopefully would increase the Aus/NZ player base.

You can choose to make it Public, Private, Application or Invite Only ;)

If I’m not mistaken when you play any PS3 consol game on line, doesn’t everyone go through the games same Mother Ship Server?

There are privately hosted races in GT5 but for public races the GT5p hosting was peer to peer and there was no local search so I always got connected to some Spanish bloke. The lag is incredible - cars will not drive in a straight line. They zig zag sideways off the track then back on at 400km/h constantly.

I think I understood your post right LeftyWright69

What I was trying to say is that let’s say the F1 2010 game for the PS3, when you go online and set up a lobby I think you are accessing the same server as everyone in the world, so the lag would always be from that point. If you played someone close to you both of your times to the Mother ship would be the same but someone from around the other side of the world would lag from that point.

Sorry for the bump, I didn't realise there was a reply.

Lefty if you start up a private lobby and invite your friends from the other side of the world then they will lag because the hosts information has to travel so far.

If you search for a public lobby you're just connecting to a random strangers connection. If you're lucky they will live close to you and you won't lag but if you're Australianl than your chances of finding a good host are slim to none. Go here: http://www.speedtest.net/ and choose a server on the other side of the world and see how bad your ping and speeds are.

We can only race with zero lag with people in Australasia unfortunately.

I've raced numerous people from Japan, and I've even witnessed a few NZ tags, with no lag, and I'm pretty far away.

This is what I see in every race of GT5p. It's not my internet (I can host ground wars on CoD), it's lag caused by distance. If another aussie is racing, his car is perfectly stable.
