Hi Everyone.

In my search for good cars in UCD I've found a Australian Holden Commodore SS '04 with around 330Hp. Not a great a car, i tought, but decided to add an australian to the collection...
Changed Oil, Motor Upgrade...When i noticed the car had over 700hp!!! Still not a great car but i got suprised.

Did anyone tried the other Holden (Monaro CV8 '04)?

I havent tried either one (Ford man here, and long story short, in Aus its Ford vs Holden), but I would assume it would have the same affects with the same engine tunes, being that they are infact the same car with a different body.

I believe the '04 Pontiac GTO (essentially a Holden Monaro) has the most power out of all of them. It gets up to around 800hp or so fully tuned.

Shame the FPVs were left out from GT4. Similar car but your choice of 5.4L quad-cam V8 or DOHC 4.0L turbo inline 6. Awesome cars.

Bushby, is that true that those two brand supporters went in serious fightings ahout competition and so fourth... I remember that the aus government reduces the quantity of beers that one person can buy in race days to something up to 25. I know is off topic but I am curious about it...

Youtube V8 Supercars. Thats the brand fighting you are probably refering to.

The 25 beer limit isnt exactly true. The limit was a carton per person for (i think) the race weekend at Bathurst. If you havent heard of Bathurst 1000 before, imagine the Nurburgring or Le Mans 24h, but a quarter of the time, and you get the picture. Same sort of spectacle, though it just isnt as big.

But thats basically all it is, a weekend celebration of Australian muscle, drinking beers, doing burnouts and having a laugh. Google an youtube footage and stories and they will give a good picture as well.

Sorry for off topicness:guilty:

Yet that gave me the s**t's, they copy and pasted all these cars from GT4, but they decided to leave it out for GT5, i mean "c'mon what is that!!?"

I have all 3 (GTO, CV8, SS) & I personally love them all. While they are a tad oversteery, for the money they are in passable. If however, you aren't an Aussie or Holden fan don't bother buying them all as they all weigh the same, have the same power & PP. If you have a spare 1.3mil CR I must encourage you to try out the XR8 V8 supercar. While it feels heavy, the sound & power are both awesome.

As for Bathurst, I like Jeremy Clarkson's way of describing it "For those who don't know, the Bathurst 1000 is an event where thousands of Australians get together to drink & fight. & Occasionally a motor race breaks out." I believe cars are inspected upon entering the grounds & if you are found with more then one carton (36 beers?) per person your alcohol is confiscated.

It's not quite as cut & dry about Aussies car interests as people believe. While the majority of people will be either ford or Holden their is the occasional person with an interest in BMW's/Mercedes to Nissan/Toyota people all the way up to the Lambo/Ferrari crowd. Then theres people like me that love a bit of everything.

O.o sorry for the long post but if you want to see an iconic australian car, please google "Valiant Charger E49" you should love it :)

Clarksons description is the best Ive heard, and easy to understand

And for the E49,

I would love to have that in the game, with a GT-HO Phase III and Monaro 327 (ggogle these too)!

I would LOVE to witness Bathurst and have my quota of beer and possibly someone elses. :dopey:

Picked up the Ford Falcon finally last night and had a blast with it.
👍

I apologize for any "off-topic-ness". :)

That never get represented in video games :(:(:(:banghead:👎

you tell me, mate... never any sort of reference a brazilian driver, for instance, nor even Interlagos quoted to be available in the gt series. and to honest, tsukuba or fugi tracks has less historical importance than interlagos, even Jacarepagua, or Sufer's Paradise, ir meulborne. No offenses, though.
For a aus car it should be included the Omega 4.1 6 in line. By the time that was exported to Brazil, she was the most fastest prodction car available. There is a category in SP that still using it. For the curious, try to google copa paulista de stock cars. very nice races.
thanks bushby for the knoledge given....

they're both good cars but in this game they sound horrible. YouTube them in real life they can sound amazing. PD has embarrassed Australia with this.

I have the Monaro with sports exhaust and it sounds amazing! It sounded weak with the stock exhaust (like most Commodore v8's) so I put a racing exhaust on but it sounded awful. I tried the semi-racing exhaust which also sounded rubbish, so I tried the sports exhaust and it's spot on.

As for Bathurst, it's one case of beer per person, per day. I go every year but my mate's grandparents live on the circuit so we get free entry and no alcahol restrictions. We set up a keg and BBQ on the hill just above the cutting each year :).

It is a shame we didn't get more Australian cars in GT5, and an even bigger shame that the FPV's were cut from the GT4 list. I still haven't seen the XR8 race car in the UCD, but as I mentioned I have the Monaro and love it. Turns out its actually a really controllable drift car (see Clarkson's test on Top Gear 👍).

Above all, I wish PD would release Bathurst as DLC!!! But let's face it, it's not going to happen :(

As a yearly visitor to the wonderful Mt Panorama it is 1 carton per person per day as described. However you can;t just take 4 cartons in if you are there for 4 days. you have to store them unless you hide them like most do.
If you want to see why they have decided to put this limit on have a look for videos of camping around the early 00's and 90's. Crazy.
Sorry off topic.
The Ford Credit Falcon that is in the game is a car that would've been in the race.
Oh what a race....only 6 months till the next on

Haha yeah, it's wild on top of the mountain. Even the cops know better than to wander up there... These days most people bury their cases before race weekend, it's quite funny actually.

Up on the hill is insane. Camping up there more so. I knew it was one case per person, just didnt know if it was per day... oh well.

Yes, it would be awesome to have some "different tracks", like ones from South America, or Africa, or Australia etc. It would also be good if we got some of their cars aswell. I would kill to see Senna's F1 car as a premium...

Arr the memories, a group of us used to make the pilgrimage to the mountain each year through the 80's and 90's and being a big group had no troubles camping on the mountain but seen plenty. The cops didn’t’ come up there much so you had to look out for your own. In the late 80.s they banned BYO beer altogether and tried to make us drink Toohies crap as they were the sponsor that year. We got all the people in out town who were going to bring there beer to us and we made a false floor in my ex ambulance F100. 36 slabs we took and piled all our camping gear and push bikes on top. The 3 other cars we were travelling with went through the check point (entry to the track) first, it was 1 AM and about 8 people checking cars. They stripped the cars pulling every thing out including the back seats, as we watched them do this one guy walked over to us had one look at all the **** in the back and asked if we had any grog. We handed him the 2 beers we were drinking and he told us to drive on by. Half an hour later the others arrived at camp.

Love of Holden <3 happy to have them in game but disappointed theres no 304ci holdens. Also the holdens are lonely at the top and would like some falcons to beat :p

I was never there during the days it was banned but the ways of hiding it these days have become more simple. IE put them in the "food esky" they see a whole pile of BBQ meat and you move on.
