Automatic and Manual Gearboxes

I was driving my GTR online the other day on auto, and my driver still changes the gear. So I was thinking, why not, when buying a premium car, you have to choose what gearbox you want, and so, after that, you can only drive it with the chosen gearbox.
And used car already have specified gearboxes and they can be shown when in the UCD. What do you guys think?
 
The old street racing game SRS had that system, I thought it was really good. I'd love it if the car only came in manual, you could only buy it in manual.

But we all know to keep it 'accessible' to all, it wont happen :-(
 
Sounds like a good idea, but, what if your like me and didn't bother going manual until you get a dfgt? then you'd be stuck with a load of auto car's that you don't want? Or if that car you've been waiting for ages for appears in the UCD/OCD and it's a auto and you want manual? It's a good idea in one respect but not in another since there are some cars that don't have the variable like for example, certain race cars only were made in manual and certain road cars were made in auto? I think PD may have already thought of this one mate 👍
 
It would be cool, I don't see a problem. Wouldn't be too hard to do either, since they've already modeled the fully customizable transmission. All they would have to do is put in the gear ratios.

And he means that you get to choose the transmission AFTER you buy the car.

This.... In real life I wouldnt even give the best looking Auto a second glance once I realize its an auto... lol... Same for GT.

Yeah, it would be interesting though but then next we will be working real life numbers where only 11% of all cars are Manual (not cool). It is a game and choices are good. Plus, I have friends and family that come over and cant drive manual, so I wouldnt want them not to be able to play because all they would have to choose from would be Manuals (though I NEVER let them in my actual game and they only play in Arcade so.....)
 
Buy the car, pick auto, drive it for a while, decide to try manual, go to GT auto, transmission swap it to manual. Good system, I have often thought of this myself. Would be a bit more realistic and encourage people to race manual. Same as cars without aids should have to run with out aids.
