Automatic-sequential shifting on the fly: why not?

This is an idea that came to me last night: 99% of automatic cars have a sequential shifting mode and to switch between the 2 you just have to press a button/ put the gear stick on M, right?
So why we can't just do the same thing in GT5? Wouldn't be great to choose between full automatic to sequential in the quick tune menu in-race instead of restarting the race? :dopey:
 
Yes, but how many cars have that option? I'm not sure it's worth implementing.
 
Here in europe a lot of cars have the sequential (using the gearstick or the paddles on the wheel) option, BMW, audi, mercedes (and porsche with their PDK) at least but as far as I know even the ferrari's (and lambo's) F1-like transmission can work in full automatic or sequential!
