I'm thinking pruning would be a good idea, but I do have mixed emotions. Whatever you decide, you might want to make doubly sure who you're deleting. I just noticed c_todd online. He registered nearly 4 months ago and has never posted, yet he's online today.

Just had an idea ... wheres the dadgum smilie .... 💡 .... there we go.

You could send an email to all the members anouncing your plans to "prun the community". They'd have to click a button or something and it would add their email address/nickname to a database. Anyone not in the database gets axed. You could also cross referance it against people that have posted in the last month, just incase those people aren't receiving the newsletter.

Hmmm, doesn't sound so good now that I've typed it all in. Something like that should work though.

Yeah, I could email all members who need to activate their account, and include the activation link in the message. If they click on it, their account will be saved, and if they don't...then it won't. :)

Have you given anymore thought to cleaning out the members list? GTPlanet has almost 1000 members who haven't posted at all. Is there any easy way to see the last time they logged in? Some of them could be just using it as an information database, but too shy to actually contribute. Maybe cleaning out isn't such a good idea.

Oh, and thanks for the avatars on the members list. It's pretty cool! I usually sort by Top Posters, and change the address to include the top 200. Nearly all of them have avatars now. Very cool!

Although I may still change my mind in the future, I've pretty much decided against pruning our member database for right now. I'm really happy with the member list, too, I love it! :D
