Yea, both my EvoIV, and my WrX GC8 are some of my fav drift cars, but i can't seem to get one manuver down pat. When im going into an extreme drift, when i get at like 80 to 90 degrees, i can't pull it back with any of the manuvers that i know, i've seen Catch-my-drift's vids and he's done it, so i was just lookin for an answer, cus as long as i dont have that, i can't pull off perfect laps. Settings, Manuvers, anything will help :D

i find those drifts unrealistic,, but anywhoo, with the lanevo u wanna set ur self up so u dont spin out, so u gotta countersteer and floor it as soon as ur car hits the angle, but do it early, and to pull back, i just keep on the throttle and the car works its way through...i personally dont like those 90 degree drifts, i like 4 wheel drifts, soo easy to do in those kinds of cars.

I have a bit of a vid of an R34 ready and I display that style of drift. All I need is a host and I'll show it to you.

Zamataki is right. You gotta floor it and countersteer early so it kind of bounces out of that huge angle. It does it very slowly, but accelerates until the car straightens out. When the car is almost straight, simply accel off to get some traction and back on again, using the cars forward acceleration to get it going in a straight line.

In no way is it unrealistic.
Just extremely dangerous.
That's why you don't see many real life 4WD drifters full 90 degree locking it on a track.

He said 90 degrees sideways, that IS four-wheel drifting. Unless you've got some seriously crazy modifications to your steering rack.

Redline, to answer your question, the key is NOT to countersteer early, in fact even when you do countersteer, don't countersteer all the way. That's the key to being able to pull back. If you do no countersteer, it will countinue in the drift. If you do full countersteer to pull out, it will dive further into the drift, then fly off the outside of the corner. You have to give it a little countersteer in order to slowly bring you out of the drift throughout the entire corner.

It's not realistic because you're telling him to drive as such. Countersteering early only kills your drift later in the corner. In order to compensate, your drifts end up going really wide because you get flung so hard from the initial turn-in. This technique can work on some double-apexes but that's about all it's good for in AWD.

Countersteering early does kill your drift because the front wheels pull you straight, but what I was saying and I'm sure what Zamataki was saying was, countersteer heavily just before you reach the 90* mark. You want the let the car to over-turn in a controlled motion.

I'm not gonna go into detail on this whole 4wd thing because I will only screw up my perception of it.

The best way to learn is just to go and do it and pay attention to the way the car reacts to certain input.

You can't pull back after reaching the 90 degree angle.. is that your concern?? You are also talking about manuevers??

I asume that when you reach the apex you are at a 90 degree angle to the curb. Right.. you don't opposite lock, mostly, when drifting with 4WD.. mild countersteer is used throughout the corner to keep the car at the desired angle - although opposite is possible when drifting smaller corners (refer to R34 vid - Laguna Seca track)

It is also important to know which type of corner you drifting.. eg.. the first corner in Apricot hill is a very long corner.. but the corner is of such a nature that you dont hav to countersteer excessively to get the car straight again - I would suggest you start practicing there...

So here is what I do - actually very simple - after the extreme angle I release acceleration for a split second, countersteer excessively and accelerate full out again - that's one method.. the other involves full out acceleration with excessive countersteer...

Still don't get the manuevers bit that you talking about though.. I don't consider what I explained just now manuevers..

Hope this helps..

:)

It does HELP! :D , and then the most helpful part was the minor countersteer throughout the turn thanks to pergatory :D , though now it sux cus my steerin wheel, the logitech driving force....i cannot use.... its jus so weird to me, i wanna get that madcatz one like in SHadow drifters drift bible v1, whihci must say was pretty cool, any way...thanks fer all yur help il ltry it more and more :p

Yeah I learned on a Driving Force too, they suck. You can do good stuff in them though, all my videos except my week 5 competition were done with it. Now I'm using the Driving Force Pro and it's sweeeeet! I recommend this wheel for anyone who can afford it. Phear the week 5 competition video!

yes... one of the many reasons why cars w/ stikcers can fly...
maybe all these cars can fly because they have big wings on the back...

Lol, i member a quote once from my issuses of Sport Compact Car saying "Yea, does anyone know where i can buy some stickers for my car? i heard from a friend of mine, that they add about 50 HP per sticker, that sounds pretty good!" LMAO.....that was just sad....

My grampa was telling me about this Austin Mini tuning guide he read in a magazine when the Mini was just released.

He said it was like, "The first major upgrade is a sticker of your favorite aftermarket part manufacturer. This will cause your car to gain the admiration of all entry level sports car drivers. It should also add a good 20-25 horsepower, depending on the size of the sticker. "

The way he was describing it was hilarious. He sounded so serious until I realized it was a joke, but apparently it was an actual article.

I am making a series of videos called Way of the Ninja.
The first part in the series is based around a stock R34 vspec with sims and no TCS or ASM. The beauty of all wheel drift.

Minis suck btw.

Never, ever buy a Mini.

hey catch my drift did i hear u say u cant pull it back past 90 degrees............lol.........dont make me whack out my clips again.........180 degree drifts no accident.
