Public service warning. Don't try to use your H-gate for reverse. This has maybe 10 hours of play time on it. I'm not to happy considering the amount of money I spent on their products, the incredibly slow shipping time with no communication and now this. Now I kinda consider my wheel useless. I hate using the paddles.

jeez, i've been using mines for a over a year, and it hasnt broke. makes me wonder if you got a defective one, or if they changed the manufacturing process to save moneys.

LOL.

Contact support and hope they have inventory.

2 very astute observations/questions.

Although I shouldn't be chuckling, I still have a Fanatec shifter on back order - if he gets a replacement that delays me even more :P

And what if I get a new one and it is all cheaped up and weaker

... and even worse, what if your T500 breaks? There's a fair number of faulty Thrustmasters popping up at the moment!

Least you'd be able to start hurling your usual tasteless insults around again, haven't been enough of those lately ;)

I've been using my Fanatec gate shifter for reverse since October 2009 and it still works just fine. It's 1000x better than pressing that stupid triangle button.

If you're referring to GT5P w/ the Logitech G series, it's not longer required to press the triangle button, if you're referring to shifting w/ the triangle button, then I'm sure I would completely agree.

No, I'm referring to GT5 requiring you to press the triangle button for reverse which is not accessible from the paddle shifters. You either press the triangle button or use the gate shifter for reverse.

I'm not talking about enabling the clutch (which is a joke anyways in GT5 as it's not even analog)

Im not sure where people get this idea, It is perfectly analogue and I have no problem slipping it when needed.

Indeed, while the engaging zone is a little small I also have no problems slipping the clutch when I want.

I see it everywhere people say it's a on/off switch in GT5, totally not true.

As for the topic, I remember seeing this happen to someone else also, plastic shaft is a bit too cheap so Fanatec shifter users please take it easy when selecting gears.

Nah, I don't take it easy. Mo worries here.

OW. Sorry to see that man... now it really IS time for an awesome shifter mod!

Showing my ignorance here,:dunce: what is meant by "slipping the clutch"?

partially depressing the clutch to allow the clutch to slip, decreasing torque to the rear wheels without dropping engine revs.

jay it could be that my daily driver has a brass button so im quite accustomed to a clutch with a very narrow "engagement zone" as you put it.

Try out Forza 3 if you want to see a proper analog clutch

For some reason I haven't come across a clutch that feels real to me yet but then again a Nissan Note's clutch is not the same as a Ferrrari, Mclaren etc I guess!!
