There are two cars in the game that are new to the series, yet they are standards.

Mazda Axela 23S '03
Jaguar XFR '10

I have a conspiracy where these two cars were to be premium, since they are new to the series. However, due to the release date, PD didn't have the time to model the car and the cockpit to premium quality, hence, they are listed as standards.

It's obvious by the quality of these cars that they were meant to be premium. Look at the XFR for god's sake. It looks like a premium! These cars were probably still in development even after release date, set to be upgraded to premium. Now, due to the earthquake, tsunami, and glitchers, we have to wait. Sure, a premium Veyron would be nice but two heads are better than one, even if those heads are smaller.

PSP models... modeled after GT4!
 
I don't think a 2010 Jag was modeled for a game that came out in 2004. The other car might have previously been modeled though. They probably did just run out of time on the Jag, but not sure about the Axela.
 
These are the only two that are completely new to the series. Neither are on GTPSP, so i believe the OP is right. The moment i saw that i'd won the Jag as a standard, i felt they fully intended it to be premium, but due to things out of our control they couldn't get it on the disk. I believe that if we ever get to see standard-premium conversions, these will be the first.

My same thoughts on the Jag... I think it will be one of the first cars to get that conversion, alongside the Axela and hopefully, the Veyron :D
 
I half agree but one thing stands out, the bonnet vents on the Jag are terrible, the one I won was in red and I can't bear to look at it, they look painted on. The rest of the car looks ok though.
 
Maybe they were originally modeled for GTPSP but got left out for some reason?
 
Made for GTPSP, then ported over like a GT4 model. There's more cars that have the same issue. The Veyron, some Hyundai Coupe models and both Countach's come to mind.
 
I wish they put premium treatment on XFR and add E63 so that we can have full on challenge with M5, XFR, RS6 and E63!

Please PD! improve the door panel of XKR '10, I can see the rough lines on the button of the seat adjustments
 
Just saw the Axela on a replay and if you look at the windows borders you can see really low resolution so I don't think it would be intended to be premium. The XFR on the other hand does look great and even if they didn't intended it to be premium it's a car that sure deserves it.

+1 on the E63 and CTS-V
 
I never knew the Axela was new, it's something you'd expect to see in GT4.
 
Don't really understand either. Lazy design? Or not enough time. I'd like to believe the latter.

Hell, even the Bugatti Veyron isn't a premium car. PD, you wanted to show the world a car lover's game, and yet, out of all the cars, the Veyron gets thrown into the standard pile? Lulz.

The Axela is my real life car, I really hope they make it a premium as well as adding the AE body kit for the car. If they make this car premium, I will bow down to PD.

I agree but wish it was the Mazdaspeed version.

I have also wondered if there would be more standard cars that were not in GT4 or others like the Axela and Tiburon. I was hoping for more but we still have plenty to choose from.
 
Can someone post pictures from both? Still haven't seen both, only heard from them.

Both look good for Standard cars indeed, but still far from Premium cars.
 
The XFR can be won by golding the Top Gear Challenges Advanced.
 
I figured these cars must have been in GTPSP since they are standard and were not in GT4. They really need to up these to be premium!

For anyone who hasn't tried it the Mazda is a great little car. There is a surprising amount of grip even when it's fully tuned up. There is some understeer but considering its front wheel drive its fairly minimal.
 
I don't see why oeople are crying about the Veyron being standard cause it's ugly as anything.
They should upgrade the formula gt cause it's just brilliant.

When i won the car in an event, I was like "WTF is this? A new secret Jaguar? AWESOME!." So i went to my premium car list and it wasn't there, instead in the standard. I was like "What? Standard 2010 model? I don't even... How?"

So i guessed it was a bad inclusion for the PSP game, but not surprised. PD don't know how to choose the right cars for special treatment.
