ayrton senna's greatness is still reflected in his country today , people still mourn his loss and he was also 'the people's champion' in my eyes and he was a fantastic f1 driver , its the racing and what he did for the people that made him so great:) :) :)

I guess now would be good...

I've had this video on my computer for exactly one year as of today. I was mostly waiting until I had a good host for it because it's rather large, but I was also waiting for the right time to post it as well. Seems as if this thread is the perfect opportunity for it, so here it goes:

This is the F1 Decade episode covering the San Marino Grand Prix of 1994 at Imola.

WMV file / 223MB / 44m38s / right click, save as / DO NOT STREAM! / you're welcome. ;)

thanks for the vid.
 ayrton senna :( :(

can anyone put the helmet on the blue/white formul1 car, i think it would look great

i remember the fights Ayrton Senna had with Alain Prost in their Mclaren Hondas. Those were the nicest races ever in Formula One

The combination of Prost and Senna in one team like McLaren those days was great! We will never see Michael Schumacher with a teammate that beats hem,and the other way around.
I only saw some little movie clips and a few of his races, and I must say that I was thrilled by Senna`s driving.Espesialy in Donington '93.That first lap was just great!
Ayrton`s crash was nothing really scary.First time I saw his crash (live on television) I thought he would stand up and walk away. But he didn`t.And as young as I was,I knew that there was something wrong after a little time.I was only 6 years old that time,so it was very hard when I heared that he died.
I didn`t watch F1 for a few years after that.
Just a little while ago I heared that he didn`t had his Brazilian flag in his car,but the Austrian, for Ratzenberger.I think that was one of the great parts of Senna. He was a sportsman, but one with a great heart. He cared about the world.

Senna wasn`t only one of the greatest drivers, but he was one of the best sportsmen there were and are.

That is soo TRUE! His works and efforts to make a difference are still very evident today, almost 11 years later, the Ayrton Senna Institute continue to provide a very comprehensive array of services that extend from cancer patients care, cancer research, treatment, general health support to charity organizations, scholarships, etc...

It's hard to describe how terribly hard it is to watch this episode. Thanks for posting it Dori-san...
I remember that Sunday like it was yesterday. I was still in Brazil (my home country), and F1 was at the time, even more important than soccer!!!!! May 1st happens to also be my birthday!!!!!!!. I had all my family and friends over, they came earlier to watch the race, and what was supposed to be a nice birthday party/ barbecue was nothing but grief and sorrow. Senna was more than an icon, he was considered by many a hero, the ultimate symbol of the nation's patriotism. We all sit in front of the TV waiting for good news, all afternoon news reports took over national television, every 1/2 hour, than every 15 minutes...every single channel!!! Everybody was quiet and impatient and then, the bad news. Not many words from anybody. Tears in many faces. That was such a misfortune, probably my worse birthday to date.

Oh man, what a sad birthday! I was watching the race that day too, and I will never forget it.

And you´re right, in those days F1 was more important than football here. Brazil´s last world cup title was in 1970 on Mexico, so Ayrton was our hero. He was the one that made us feel proud of our country. It´s funny that a few months later Brazil won the USA World Cup, when no one here was really expecting it since we almost didn´t make it through the qualifyings.

And I remember at the end of the final game against Italy, the players holding up a sign dedicating the title to Ayrton Senna. 👍

I heard that too from his sister on a Magazine article. She really works hard on assuring his social/charity works continues alive too.

Wonderful pics. 👍 Ayrton Senna was my favorite racer, and I believe he was the best gift from Brasil, ever(my brother would say it's Adriana Lima).

That´s a hard choise, I would get both. That woman is gorgeous!

That was a sad day when he died, i was only about 11.

He had a superior McClaren in the late eighties where he won his first champ in 88 then 90, 91.

When McClaren changed to Ford Power they where much weaker but Senna still managed to get an amazing amount of wins in 93 just missing out on the Champ to Prosts Williams.

The year he died he was in a great car again and surely would have went on to win the Champ.

He was 34 which was not that young in driving terms.

I agree he was something very special in the wet no one could touch him, the only person comparable today is Valentino Rossi in MotoGP.

I vaguely remember watching that race. I was informed about his death by my dad after a while because I didnt understand what had happened when it did (I was only about 6 I think). That video clip brought back some very sad memories of his death and the death of ratzenburger along with that accident in the pits. Almost cried at one point. But then what stopped me was knowing how much of a great driver he was and how he has inspired motor sports and car manufacture over the years. The Honda NSX is my favourite car ever and the fact that he played a pretty big role in the construction of such a great car just makes me respect him even more.

Thanks for the clip. I'm gonna try and make a contribution to this tribute. I think I owe it to him.

i am 34 and i still look to ayrton for inspiration, i can't believe what he achieved in those years, he put life into formula 1, passion. he fought for every race never giving up, and what he did for his country is amazing...still today. i only ever saw him race once, at silverstone in '91 but i remember it so well.

i agree with you Giggahertz, rossi, he is the only real natural talent and someone with some charisma out there at the moment.

always missed but never forgotten!!

amen, i really miss the excitement and passion he brought to f1. In my opinion he is the best and more inspirational f1 driver ever. Please dont rip on me if you disagree as it is my PERSONAL OPINION.
