Why wont the AI driver max out the car on long straights ? at Le Mans he seems to back off at 210-215mph and sits at that speed in places where I can get 240mph in the same car and settings ?

I'm seem to recall something similar happening on Microprose F1GP on the amiga back in the day, if you did a 2 player race, it didn't have split screen so each player did stints, and the AI took over your car whilst the other player had a turn. Again on that the AI would never exploit the full top speed of the car ...

Is there any raeson for this ?

Is it just because your B-Spec driver has a poor 'Battle' rating and so is stuck behind another driver? If it is, train your b-spec driver by forcing him to overtake frequently; once he has the lead, slow down his pace so he's constantly having to overtake.

I leave him set to overtake at all times ... which is another thing...

Why when he comes up behind a slow car does he ram into them instead of just going round them , the race he is doing now has a 'vette C5 Le Man car which is about 30mph slower on the straights, he catches up and doesn't pass but rams into him !!!!!!!!!! ? whats all that about

How many B-Spec points do you have.
You will note marked improvement in the B-Spec driver's performance once he goes over about 4500 points.

Another thing is that the B-Spec driver doesn't go thru tires the way I do.
So that may be part and parcel of the AI conserving tires.

My guy does the same thing... and I am almost at 7000 points.

Close to 8000 B-Spec points, and he might as well be a Dodge Truck cause he rams the hell out of everything...

My A-Spec driver has around 5000 A-Spec points and he is WAY better. ;)

My B-spec guy is way better on tires than I am. hmmmm.

i almost have 8k points and the driver still seems very dumb.

B-spec looks like one of those things that's a great idea if implemented properly...unfortunately, it doesn't look like they implemented it properly. :(

"They" being PD of course.

no probs with my b-speci! he rox :)

he overtakes, drives like a bat outta hell on setting 5 and even crashes on the rare occassion..

My B-spec driver ain't the greatest, although I only used him for spamming the Touring car championship in my A4 Touring Car and a couple endurance races. I don't pay much attention to his driving anyway - as long as he gets the win, I really don't care what he does.

Is it possible to AI not maxing out the car and running into everybody else was PD's attempt to add more 'challenge' to the mode so it's not just "Grab a car and make the AI win for you." Although that's what it ends up being most of the time anyway.

Just a thought.

is it possible for your driver to lose skill?

Same here, and when the tires finally do go away, he is alot better when it comes to driving on those red hot tires too....when they get THAT bad I can hardly keep the car going straight, yet the AI does a decent job. 👍

Saying that, I still refuse to use b-spec for ANY race that I havnt already won in a-spec. Just a matter of principle for me.

My B-spec - Herbert - has over 7000 points over 70 in battleskill, and he don´t seem to slam others anymore. He´s still 2-5 secs off my pace for any lap (20 on Nürb), and he´s still harder on the tires, but Herberts starting to get quite good. If you want to get B-spec points, go for photodrives. He can even rally there.

I also noticed that yesterday. I was doing some laptimes on the nurb in arcade mode with my R89C. After one lap (6'08) I decided to do it in b spec to see the gap beetween us on this circuit with the same car.
I watched him drive, he was really good and I started to think he would beat my time, but on the long straight, he was stuck at 270km/h while I could take around 340....and he finished 8s behind me. Quite strange, this is the first time I notice this, and else, I can say my b spec driver is quite good (he's around 6000pts I think). Hope he will improve on that specific point, as I plan to do the 24h II with him.....

About tires wearing, I noticed it depends on the circuit. We're usualy close to eachother, but sometimes I'm able to to several more laps than him. On the other side, and like bindidot said, he's much better at dealing with red tires than I am.

Does anybody has a suggestion about this top speed problem ?

How about telling him to push hard on the straights? Does that effect his top speed?

I tried it, no difference noticed between setting 4 or 5, still stuck at 270kmh. I think this setting has just an influence about his way to take corners.

Whats that MAX B-Spec points you can get?

And when its maxed out does he still act like a wally? lol

i am at bout 7000 points and MR.B is like really good on coners like at the super speedway he can take turn 3&4 at 200 plus mp/h in my ponyphony turismo and i am lucky to get around it at 180 mp/h but at turn 1&2 he slow down to get round it at 197/8 mp/h where i can take it at full noise. MR.B is fsat at some other tracks and slower at other . whats up with him?

The B- spec dude always shifts at the red line ..he wont exceed it . Most cars will get 15 to 20 mph more from top gear by going into the red line. change your gearing to suit the B- spec nitwit on a long straight. On shorter straights the the b-specs dope seems to have a speed limit .

It a shame really that the B Spec diver will not use the NOS when on push hard, this is a great second wind if you make a mistake :guilty:

This is something I haven't thought off. I'm going to change the last gear and set it a bit wider on some tracks. Then his speed will be higher. Thxfor the advice, now hoping it works

I think the reduction in speed he makes in long stretches has to do with tire wear. If you will notice on the tracks like lemans, if you push flat out on the long straights the tires are screaching and tire wear increases. Try softening the suspension and see what happens. This should allow the tires to conform to the irregularities of the road better and get better top end traction.
