B-Spec Driving discovery

While playing GT4 this week I was surprised that my B-spec bob couldn't do the German Grand Touring championship anymore. I have been using the mercedes touring car and winning with ease, but had not tried this cash cow in a while.

So I start changing the settings, usually I keep it on 2 or 3 with overtake on, I am manually watching and telling him to push when I know he could pass, etc. I win the higher speed races but lose paris badly and couldnt coax him around the ring fast enough.

So I decide I am going to start qualifying for the races to give him a head start. I Try paris - 6 seconds off the mark. Try the next couple and barely pull a first. And I am very confused. Why is this awesome car that one so easily before suddenly having troubles???

I check the settings! Lol I had Sports Hard tires on. Back to racing mediums and we are smokin.

Always check those tires. :dunce:

lol tell me about it, ive done that MANY a time :p:

or leaving bob on my car settings. tweak the gears and bob starts having trouble :(

I suspect a chassis refresh.. it needs to be done every 600km.. or there abouts

EDIT: oops, didn't read the post properly. yeah, always check tires. I change mine according to track. On high speed ring I have qualifing tires on the rear.. At Paris I have Med/Soft and gears set to about 5 (i think). You can only do about 220km/h on the the straight..

Oh and I also have driver aids on for my "Teagan"

I think somebody previously used a race car fitted with sport tires in a race meant for stock cars and then forgot.
GT4 will downgrade tires automatically to meet race rules but does not upgrade automatically.
I all ready knew this, it works for both A and B spec so it is not really a discovery.
The computer made you pay for your earlier cheating ways. 👎
What worries me is it took you till Paris to work out you had sports tires fitted???
Rule 1: Allways check car settings before racing. 👍
It will save you from making embarrising posts on GTP. :dunce:

Sounds like you need an oil change. My A4 TouringCar driver also tends too fall off the pace a bit (particularly at Paris) when HP starts to drop due to increased mileage on the car. Give him an oil refresh and he's back to winning by a country mile 👍

Paris is difficult for the B-spec driver in that series. I have had a couple of 2nd and 3rds, and using 2 or 3 I am not at all surprised at your result.

Steven

I have let Bob take the wheel after I have fixed pole position a few times and he has won without any problem

Perhaps it is the CLKs turbo upgrade that keeps him in the lead

Can anyone confirm that your B-spec driver actually uses "driving aids"?

I've got a feeling that they're automatically turned off by B-spec dude cos he can vary the throttle and steering as minutely as he wants whereas we as humans can't.

I guess a way to find out would be to watch a replay of B-spec Dude with full display on?

Ok, I'm new to this and this will probably seem like the daftest question, but, if I sell my only car (for $1500!) do I lose all the upgrades I have paid for? Or do they remain available for the next car I buy?

You lose them too. Stick to the topic ;).

Lol - I didnt realize this was an embarrassing post... just thought it was a funny bit of GT4. 💡

Anyway isn't Opera paris the first track on the Opera Paris was the first track in the German touring championship?

I am glad to see I am not the only one who forgets to check tires though... :)

If you hadn't have solved the problem already, I would have suggested just general over use of the car, causing engine wear n tear, had caused it to start underperforming.

When a car reaches a high mileage, does this happen? I'm sure I read this somewhere before actually.

Fore example, the 4 black beauties from the used car lot, are not quite as powerful as their brand new, fresh from the dealers counterparts.

***EDIT***

I have posted this in the magazine thread also (but nobody READS that, just votes), but where the hell do you get the HKS EVO Xtreme8?! Its on the 'Drift*Star' magazine, featured in the wk7 magazine cover vote. It looks awesome but...

...It simply isn't in the game! Any light to shine anybody? Cheers.

P.S. I'm running the PAL version.

As for the high mileage wear and tear, yes it will eventually lose permanent horsepower. I set B-spec Bob on Le Sarthe II in my R92 in practice mode, put him on 3X and left him doing it while I slept and the entire next day while I was at work. When I got in he had been driving for 45 game hours. He had put over 9,000 total miles on the car and after the chasis refresh and oil change was still down about 100 hp.

As for where you can find the HKS car you are talking about. I didn't go look to see what car you are looking at but if it is an HKS tuned car check in HKS in the Tuner Village. That is where you buy all the tuner modified cars.

--edit--

I just went and looked. Looks like a paintshopped EVO to me.

I personally call my B-Spec driver Stig, after Top Gear.

I call mine "B-Spec Dude" as in "Pizzadude" from the classic film "The 'Burbs".

(Slightly older people will know what I mean!)

i found something strange with my b-spec driver (the stig!) this may be a tad off topic but here goes, im currently doing the le mans 24h on le sarthe 2 (with the long straight), i went up and checked on ''the stig'' in his sauber race car and he was traveling down the long straight at about 210mph, the camera shot was long distance and the car was still quite away away, yet i notiched the lights looked kinda of dim, i didn't think much of it till i kept watching and seen him switch them to full beam again !!! has anyone else had this happen and is there any reason for it ???
