Hello

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to use the B-Spec mode. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how all those buttons and commands work. I've never won a race in B-Spec yet. To win, what do I have to do? Do I have to do at least some racing in B-Spec mode in order to complete the game, or can I choose to stick with the driver mode? Thanks for your reply!

Hello!

It's really simple. You use left and right directional buttons to select the pace of the driver. 1=slow and 5=fast. Then you can order him/her to pit and/or pass the car in front. The buttons for these actions are shown on the screen, I don't remember them.

To win, you have to manage the driver so that he/she runs fast where possible and slow in tricky corners where flying off is easier. If the driver is experienced, you can just set the pace to 3 or 4 and leave overtake on but your driver probably isn't so this probably won't work. Give it a try anyway.

You don't have to use B-Spec at all, you can complete the whole game by yourself. Many people choose to use it for the very long endurances and drive the rest of the races by themselves, I did it like this. Some people drive even the long races themselves and I take my hat off to them, I could never drive a 24h race in full A-Spec. 8 or 9 hours isn't bad but 24...

This is the best I could explain, I hope it helps.

I recomend first taking your car to the nurb and letting him first run by himself, which will bump up his course skill and machine skill. Once he can successfully make it around the track without slamming into things and without going off coarse then it is time to move onto actually racing. Believe me it will save you much grief, when you just let him race you WILL pull your hair out until he has respectable machine, coarse, and most importantly battle skill. Just my take on it, just prepare him slowly and your hair will stay on your head. Good Luck,, Jimmy Lewis

As you use B-Spec more, and accumulate B-Spec points, your 'driver' improves in skill and you can afford to push him a bit harder... I'm sure the controls etc. are explained in the manual, however...

...there is also some good tips on how to make the most out of B-Spec mode here:- https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=69405 (from our FAQ section 💡 )

Also, there is plenty of discussion about the why's and wherefores of B-Spec mode on the site already - do a search for B-Spec and 'titles only' and you come up with this:- https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/search.php?searchid=819542

As the posters above mention, of course, you don't need to use B-Spec at all, but since B-Spec can be run at up to three times quicker than real time, it is very useful for getting those 24 hour enduros out of the way...

Good luck,
TM
