Does this command work??

I would think it should be : Bob is lapping at 1.15, so if i press maintain pace, he will be lapping around the 1.15 mark..But no, i left him for 4 laps, and i see he's been lapping at 1.23/1.24...

Is this normal?

The command only lasts one lap at most.

That's a good guess but it only lats for a few seconds before the driver starts to slow down if he is in first and just cruises down the track or gets frustrated if hes in second place or worse

Yes, keep pressing it every 15-30 seconds to be 100% sure he'll maintain pace..

👍

He is such a retard..he is spinning every lap at the F1 Nurburgring Track.

Mine manages to spin a Miata with a Limited Slip like every lap on Tsukuba.

Haha, that would drive me crazy.

Weirdly enough, he is now pounding the competition at Monza in the rain. He lapped the whole field in 10 laps. Incomprehensible.

This.

Maintain pace has to do with that hot/cold meter. It just keeps him from cooling down. If you stop issuing commands altogether, he won't maintain pace but will start to cool off, which means slowing down. He will only play along with whatever command you give him for a handful of seconds and then you have to issue another and continue issuing them throughout the entire lap or else he will do his own thing, which typically means cooling off if he's by himself or heating up if other cars are nearby. They're not standing orders that remain in effect until you specify otherwise.

Mine like to stomp the brake when approaching every single corner at Daytona Superspeedway, and of course by "corner" I mean "enormous, gently-turning, broad, banked corner". It doesn't matter what he's driving, even if it isn't very fast or if it's a friggin' Ferrari Enzo that comfortably holds 210 to 220 MPH the whole way around without needing to even lift off the throttle. My higher-level driver doesn't quite slow down to like 150 MPH on the enormous banked curves, unlike the lower ones, but he still scrubs off at least 30 MPH while the other guys blow right by him.

Now, one might argue, "But if he's fairly new he's going to make mistakes", and normally I'd agree, but not in this case. A kid that just got their learner's permit wouldn't stomp the bloody brake on the approach to a superspeedway bend. My grandma wouldn't be so terrified as to ride the brake, either, but B-Spec Bob wets himself at the sight of those oh-so-gentle bends. Explain why he taps the brake every single time he reaches the start/finish line.

Then give "him" a better suited car or slow him down. 💡

It is not good having the driver on the red meter in curves and that, ofc he is gonna spin you push him too far u have to slow him down where u need to brake hard and on straights etc you tell him to keep up.

i almost went crazy during the vitz race, all of the cars driving like idiots more off track than on it, then my driver manages to get 1st in the final lap somehow, but he takes his final corner a bit wide, and the second car comes creeping up next soooo slow, making me lose the race by 0.120 sec, i hate that race

It wiill help is you gve B spec Bob either a decent car or a car that is tuned properly, otherwise when he gets into 'the red'' on his attitiude metre he wil just loose it like everyone else.

B spec Bob usually drives a racing line similiar to the driving line that is available as a guide on Driving Options.

Make sure your car is light, not maxed out with power, make sure it handles well and has grip and the gear ratio's and brakes are set up for the course.

If there is to much power for the wheels, he will spin the wheels, make sure your power to grip ratio is on the safe side, so when he gets a bit angry, he physically can't spin the wheels.

There are about 10 cheap 4wd race cars and a huge number of 4wd road cars, wherever possible give Bob a 4wd drive car, this way there is no chance he will spin the wheels.

I've put Sports tyres on many of my 4wd race cars and given them to Bob, he wins the race easily, without problem or spins.

Give him the right car, set up in the right way and manage his temper properly and he will be fine.

Tapping the brake before entering a turn, while having minimal effect on speed, is often necessary to set the proper turning geometry.....

I think that how long it is between each needed 'Maintain Pace' depends on the basic 'mood' of the driver. I find myself needing to babysit 'cool' drivers more than 'hot' ones to keep their speed up, but I need to pace down 'hot' drivers more when they hit traffic.

The general trend when simply grinding for cr. or XP is to completely overmuscle your Bob so that he still drives faster than the opposition even when fully cooled. Then you simply walk away, and get on with something remotely FUN in your life ('cos B-Spec sure ain't!).

You definitely need to 'train' up your drivers... give them plenty of experience in all different types of cars (FF, FR, AWD, etc.) and show them as many tracks as possible. And don't enter them in events that are MUCH higher than their level, or you end up with them going ape and spinning a lot. If you want Bob to learn the FGT, enter him in races where you can keep him cool almost the entire race. If he gets hot and hasn't learned to drive that beast, bad things are going to happen!

The thing that pi$$es me off is, even though he's at a lower level than me, he drives the FGT a LOT better than I can, especially in the rain!
