OK let me start off by saying I have the game, got it at 10AM and been playing it since 12 when it finished installing, I've played a lot of A spec and licenses and "specials" and done 7 b spec races (In which i might add B spec bob won 5 and came 2nd in 2, becuase he is driving a lotus carlton in sunday cup and a tuned Volvo C30 in FF, and also he could have won the 2 he lost but i walked away lol)

What I havent noticed, and cant comprehend how it would work, is that I remember PD saying that B spec can be controlled from your PC when you arent even playing GT5, how is this done?

Doesn't seem as impressive if your PS3 has to be running at the same time. That's what it says, right? I'm not reading it wrong or anything.

Yep...your PS3 has to be on for remote racing to work. It makes perfect sense because the online system updates your PS3 save data along the way. The problem, though, is that you wouldn't want to play remote races 24/7 as your PS3 will probably die out in a couple of weeks.

I cant figure out why they have PC control, it says right on the site that the PS3 needs to be on with GT5 in it. Well what am I supposed to leave it running all day? Its not like I could just do that then manage some races while im at work.

Seems like a bit of a useless feature to me. Now if this could all take place online somehow, like keep track of the data in an online account so that I dont need the PS3 on, well that would be a different story. Id use that, but with the way it is now I dont get it.

I guess I was hoping your driver's stats were just updated and kept on a server whenever you happened to connect, then they'd have a program that would set the whole race up remotely and then update your game when you next turn it on.

I think maybe we misunderstood the premise. I think they wanted us to race while home but not playing.

For example, I could have my PS3 turned on while I'm sitting here watching a movie or sports or something, and I could be playing B-Spec with my laptop. Basically just freeing up my TV for movies or TV or whatever.

Does anyone know if the power saving features of the PS3 comes into action with games loaded? That would mean you could remote start your PS3, and leave the power saving feature to switch it off.

so in theory the part about jimbob your friend could borrow your driver to race against which means he could remote turn on my ps3?

So not only am I losing productivity by staying up all hours playing A-Spec, now I can control B-Spec Bob from work and lose productivity in the office as well!

If it's not this I'd be very surprised.

Sounds like a win to me. :mischievous:

I could see this being good especially when I go away for a couple of days, still collecting XP. However I was hoping the PS3 didn't need to be on. It kinda hinders what people will do because you don't want your PS3 running all night. I would hope this feature progresses to the point were PD figures out a way to do it without the PS3 on. I did hear something about apps for mobile b-spec however it is nowhere to be found on the website. strange.

But the real question is does your friends have to have their PS3 on to use their drivers?? If it is on and they're in a race, can you still use it?

Me too! During my commute to work as well! Progressing through GT5 and winning races while I'm on the train to work, and making money at work, not bad!!!

The service for remote race is planned to made available in December 2010.
* To host a remote race, you must be signed in to the PlayStation®Network.

lol@ peoples who thought you could play it without turning on the ps3

Am I correct in remembering that this would also work on iPhones/iPods?

That just depend on if the iphone's browser support the remote play app on the offical website. It may, or may not work.

I was surprised to read those comments as well.

iPad owner here, wishing it does :D

Well at least I can stop looking for it, since it's not out yet...

According to PD they've made some emergency cutbacks to the online services including those 'hidden' ones that take place during menu navigation. These cutbacks are to stabilise the massive across at the GT5 servers, so I guess that it's possible that the B-Spec stuff might face a bit of a delay now :(

this is a realy cool feature if it is what I think it is. I dont really mind leaving my PS3 on all day and being able to do races from work would be great especially if there are endurance races (I havnt seen any yet, but I am not very far into the game.
