B-Spec useless?

I have no idea what PD have done to b-spec, but they totally ruined it.
On GT4 push hard + overtake + race speed x3 = WIN!, this was true depending on car setup etc.
However, here the b-spec driver just hits gas in the middle of a corner for no reason, sending him into a wall and ending the race in last, or serioulsy hits brake, ON A STRAIGHT, to let other drivers pass, WTH is that!?
My b-spec guy is level 7 as drives like a total .... regardless of the car/setup/ power weight ratio anything. Is this true of every b-spec driver, and is there a way to fix this?

If he is level 7 he wont be very good. I almost broke a few DS3s until they were around level 20, believe me they get better. Until he is at a higher level try keeping him in the amatuer and beginner events. Putting him in a high powered car in pro and extreme usually ends badly at lower levels.

I prefer the push hard and overtake options in GT4. It was very simple.

And yes, your B-Spec driver needs to be at a high level to be good.
Also, don't let your driver get into the red zone for too long because he will make mistakes and spin.

The time x3 function in GT4 was good but it may be seen as cheating. I guess PD could've included it in GT5 but they either thought it was a cheat or they couldn't simulate the physics or they were just lazy.

Anyway, I don't think GT5 B-Spec is that bad. I like how they've implemented the driver strength to make it more realistic.

My B-Spec driver is level 21, yet he still brakes way too early and accelerates in the middle of the corner, which makes the rear end slide. Now, even a beginner driver would know not to accelerate any more, but no, he still keeps accelerating and spins out. Then he reverses onto the grass, parks up and lets everyone pass.

B-Spec is useless, yes. Needs more orders. Not just 3...

Then you let him driving too fast, pace down a bit if he spins out :)

He has a car that is much better than the rest of the field. If he is in the lead, he will still lap about 2 second slower than the rest. How can I still slow him down? :indiff:

I find this isn't totally true, you need to give your driver a suitable car, go for a light car, or a car which is similiar to your opponents and you have done full weight reduction on this.

Make sure your car is handling well, it doesn't have bad understeer or oversteer and the power of the engine is not masively greater than the grip of your tyres. The gear ratio's are also important, make sure they are set right for the track.

Try and use a 4wd drive car wherever possible, there are many 4wd racecars in this game, you can put either hard or soft road tyres on these and they become perfect B spec cars.

Also, as mentioned in this thread already, MANAGE your driver, don't let his attitude bar be constantly in the red, keep him calm and keep this between 1/4 and 3/4 depending on how much speed you need.

Be patient, aslong as you win the race it doesn't matter whether you win by 1 second or 1 minute, so pace your driver, try and overtake on the straights, not in bends as he's terrible at overtaking.

Once you get to the higher levels it changes, you can just use a very fast car like the Formula GT or Redbull and leave him to it, but it's a bit more difficult and strategic in the lower levels.

Also, there are many threads detailing this information, the SEARCH facility is available on the top right corner of the screen.

If your b-spec driver is at a high level however still drives like a complete numbskull then retire him and get another. It takes 4 dream championship races to get him to level 18 then hopefully this one will be better.

Like in real life some drivers are amazing and some are duds.

The whole b-spec thing in general to me is pointless. GT was always a drivers game and should remain that way. B-spec is not a full racing management sim, so why bother? It's resources PD could have better put into a-spec, and overall I think it's a complete burden to the game.

My bob is getting better, or you think he is then you send him out on a track like indy in an x2010 against very slow cars and he still insists on slowing down like a dumbass in the corners and whenever he see's another car. It's why I hate B-Spec, the AI is clearly not good enough for this mode to work as it should.

There's an old adage in racing: In order to speed up, first you must slow down. Bob gets over-excited and makes stupid mistakes. Tell his a** to calm down and chill out, and he'll start going FASTER. I try to keep my Bob around the middle of the hot/cold meter, or just above the center, most of the time.

Just telling Bob to keep going faster is aggravating him and causing him to over-drive the car and the course, and make stupid rookie mistakes.

Oh, and he DOES get better.

I tend to agree. I find it fairly annoying. I just can't really foresee a time when I'll be rushing out to BuyMore to buy the latest version of "GT Pit Boss". How would they advertise that? "You know the excitement of driving race cars on race tracks? You know the adrenaline rush of passing your arch-rival on the last turn of the last lap? Well now you can be the guy who tells that driver when to stop for fuel! With new GT Pit Boss, you'll be the guy in charge! You'll tell the drivers what tires to fit! You'll tell them to slow down - and they'll tell you to sod off, and then they'll crash into the wall! Get GT Pit Boss TODAY!"

No, I just don't see that selling...

How in the hell are you guys patient enough to get your bob to level 20+...? I'm at level 5 right now and it is PAINFUL watching him! What's the fastest way to up his XP?

I like to put them in the Veyron. Its obviously fast, and it is very grippy, so my Bob doesn't slide around with it much.

I just put my B-Spec on an endurance race and I'm going to bed. In the morning my Bobs will have won 1st place and I'll have started the day with more EXP and credits.

Not useless.

So I'm up to level 14 as of now and he STILL SUCKS! I have no idea why this moron cannot make a simple pass. The only reason I'm even doing b-spec is to try to get a car to win the historic cup on a-spec.

I honestly think b-spec is total crap and should not even be on the game!:grumpy:

It's garbage. I know he's not a very good driver at the beginning but Stephen Hawkin could driver better.

I find myself bunging my guy in a car that is going to easily piss the race, I get him to the front in first lap and then leave room, do the dishes or whatever. Or leave it on doing a race while I go to work and come back and he's won! What is the point in that!

I like B-Spec..I mean you get to win cars, get credits and exp..which helps me :)

Only thing I would change is to make the races shorter...boring to sit there and wait 6-10 laps for Bob to finish.

Some of my B-Spec are useless and I got rid off them. However, some are very good, espescially my first and second drivers (alhough they are so lazy to take over others and need some order).

p.s. They are good even in earlier level. The bad oned are bad even they are in Leve 17.

Here's my lv37 on tsukuba 9hr...

LOL that basically sums up b-spec for me, i almost broke my controller, becase my lvl 21 bob couldn't beat the last race in the historic car cup in a Toyota 7. B-spec is only good for the cars, the experience is painful and boring. And why on earth did they think it would be a good idea to double the amount of laps for crappy racers who will take twice as long as you to finish it anyway? The AI should really be called AR "Artificial Retardation."

My first impression is that Bob has to much car to use in this race and it requires some set up.
A few trial runs adjusting the LSD would have made a huge difference.

In any case its a 9hr race and Bob is going to make up lost time in the straights. :)

Yes, it is very useless. Why buy a game and let it play itself? I tried bspec and the driver was an idiot. I work 50+ hours a week, have a real car that im trying to get on the road that im working on, and everything else you do in life. I just dont have the time to sit and watch the game play itself. I hardly have time to do all the Aspec events that i want to haha.

Its easier to just skip the historic cup for awhile, keep beating all the A-spec events until you get the endurance races. Then do the Indianapolis endurance race and you get the Jaguar XJR13. Or just add Silver97ES and i will send you one. I know how annoying it is to try and find a good car for the historic cup, let alone them putting a 20 million price tag in the new car dealer. I work 12 hour shifts, so PM me if you add me so i will know to send it.
