Hey guys. I have terrible back pain. Its probably because when i go to work i fill the little nail holes on the base board. Anyway, do you guys have any quicvk fixes besided medication, i cant even sleep at night let alone type in this chair, it kills. Any replies will be much appreciated.

If you want to cure the symptom, use a hot bath or hot pad on the area in question.

If you want to cure to cause, go to a quake 👍

First of all, have you gone to see a Doctor about this? I know they might direct you to medication, but you should make it clear that you do not want medication.

Secondly, try getting massages. My mother has a bad back, and she's trying to get it to the point where it's at least fairly good. Also, use wheat pillows. With these, you heat them up (say, in the microwave or something), and sleep on them. Get some stuff to sleep on, like an egg-shell style mattress. Make sure when you sleep your back is always warm and comfortable. Take hot baths. Massages seem to be very good, though.

Hope that helps, at least temporarily. Personally, I think you need to see a doctor or a specialist.

EDIT: There's also this stuff called "A Little Bit of Relief" that my Mother uses. She said it's the best thing she has. It's just cream that you rub into your back, and apparantly it's the best remedy she's used. I don't know whether it's commercial, though. Find out about it.

A firm mattress always helps. As far as doctors go, western medicine will proscribe a bit of physical therapy. Sometimes it works wonders, sometimes it doesnt. If you want to try out eastern medicine, give acupuncture a shot. If you're afraid of needles (it's not really that bad, trust me), there's always massage of the eastern or western variety. But all in all, back pain's always a hard-to-treat problem. I'd say that an investment in a good mattress would be one definite thing to do though.

Weird, my career studies class, has these weird chairs, that lean back in a very awkward position, causing a very painful back. Ever since the first week of sitting in them, my back is just terribly painful while I walk, or lay down on my stomach.

I have bad back pain too, it hurts all the time. I just live with it though, but it makes it really hard to work out my abs, after 30 crunchs my back just hurts so much. I used to do 200 a few years ago and my back was fine.

The funny, or sad, thing is that in high school I would slouch really low in my desk and my friend would say, "you're gonna have a bad back when you're twenty." Well here I am twenty and with a bad back.

Go figure.

Sometimes I can't sleep at night because of it. Errrr if only we actually listened to parents. If only doctors wouldn't say that "no, you won't turn into a hunchback old lady if you don't sit strait..." to make kill the fear of slouching. aww crap i'm slouching right now...but it hurts cuz i was sitting up strait!!! errr

Ya I know, but my mom never takes it seriously because I always seem to have something wrong to ***** about. I've been blessed with a f*'ed up body.

I'd say make sure your bed is good. Things like your posture affect your back greatly. Youngsters who haul loaded backpacks everywhere tend to have back problems. I know a kid who had surgery to his back and was forced to pull a bad* in stead of wearing it for a few years. THey banned them in my school for a year or two.

I've had a bad back from bad posture, bad bed and running.

Edit: *sorry, pull a bag.

And what are "growing pains" anyway? What constitutes as a "growing pain"?

http://kidshealth.org/kid/ill_injure/aches/growing_pains.html

There is a bit in the article that mentions the fact that a few teens can still have growing pains... but this doesn't apply to you now that I've done some furthur research...it doesn't mention anything about back aches. You should probably read it anyway, in case you find something interesting.

You may want to check with your doctor as I suggested before...

I've had a knee problem for 5 years now. I hurt it when I used to play Basketball, and it hasn't been right since. I first went to the doctor in 2000. They told me it was growing pains, didn't check anything properly, didn't give me any remedy, medication or anything to cure the pain. I went again in 2002. Same answer, no remedy. 2004: Same answer, no remedy.

If you ask me, I think Doctors use "Growing Pains" as an excuse for being terribly lazy.

Strengthening your core muscles can help with back pain as it gives you more support 👍.

I think full situps might actually hurt it, but laying on your side and lifting the top leg in the air is one way to help. Also, lay on your stomach, and alternately lift your legs in the air. Partial situps probably would be beneficial 👍. My mom had some serious back pain and doing excersises helped her out tremendously.

Sweet thanks. I'm not sure about the leg workout though. And doesn't weighting your feet and lifting them up do pretty much the same as a sit-up?

Not neccesarily, you want to have a variety to work all the muscles, which includes you back muscles. Situps focus a lot on the ab muscles, but you also want to strengthen your lower back also.

Sorry guys ihavent been on in a day or so due to my mid terms. But i have read your posts and thank you for you many suggestions. My back is slowly getting better but i had this bad back last week too then it went away for like the weekend and then it was back. It seems that if i stretch it it feels better, it hurts bad in the morning but better at the end of the day.

really? mine's the opposite, it's usually at the end of my day. from the sounds of your' problem though, it's definately the bed. I just finished shoveling snow and my back doesn't hurt that much. Yay!
