What folder/directory structure do you need to have on your USB device so that you can backup save files from different PS3 accounts to a single USB flash drive/storage device?

I haven't configured my USB device yet, so whenever I try to backup a secondary account's save file to the same USB device, it says I already have a file in that location - which presumably is the backup I made of my main account.

i dont think that you can do more than one save on a drive. i had the same question too and tried different things. im sure you cannot do more than one save

To chime in on this I have tried to do multiple saves on the same flash drive with no success. Im not computer savvy at all so I thought I was just doing something wrong. I hope that someone knows of a way of doing this as well as for some reason I cant get my ps3 to recognize my external hd when I try and use it, Im only able to back up via flash drive.

Partition the drive in two parts.

You can only do one. I suggest getting another flash drive or backing up file to computer first before deleting the one off of the drive.

Thanks for the replies.

I suspected that you can't backup more than one account's save game to the same USB storage device, as the directory structure for the save file is the same no matter the account.

Have you checked the file system of the external HD? The PS3 will only recognize external storage devices with FAT32 file system format (NTFS and exFAT will not be recognized).
