Hi there. I did some experiments with ballast today but I can't really decide whether it's good or not. So basicly you can reduce the wheelspin and then make the first gear shorter to achieve better acceleration. But is wheelspin really that bad? I can tell you that my Uber-Coupe06 spins A LOT, but I still haven't lost to a single Coupe06 out there. And making the first gear shorter makes the gaps between the next gears longer. Of course ballast adds more weight but the more horsepower your car has the smaller the slowing effect of the added weight is. Any thoughts? :)

E: I forgot to mention that I'm talking about 1/4 mile tuning. For tunnel, ballast is definatly a no-go

As far as i know, for tunnel drag you want the first gear to be long enough, in order to have the rest of the gears closer. That is no ballast needed as far as i know...If i would retune my cars, i would remove ballast, and make 1st gear longer.

Yeah thanks but I'm talking about 1/4 mile. :)

I was just thinking if this thread is in the right section even though it's a drag-related tuning thread...

Correct gearing is much more efficient than adding weight, you can balance camber with torque to get perfect launch, thats my secret anyway.

Its no secret that fiddling with camber can affect your launch...

NEVER ADD BALLAST

I tried this a few times and only slowed my down...

Does the wheelspin even slow you down then? I've always thought that static friction > kinetic friction? That's not the case in GT5 I assume?

Also makes your car look sexy :D

lol that me laugh... however you theory may be at risk..
