Time to get ballistic, GTPlanet. But if you're thinking this is a shooting game, you are dead wrong. This is actually a racing game pitting you against seven other speeder bikes or something. You are racing through these tubes at speeds of about 1999 kph (or at least the speed I was doing running only one race. Convert to MPH at will). Is it a good game? After one play, allow me to share my experiences with you, my wonderful people.

OTHER INFO:
"Ballistics" is a racing game where you race on certain tube tracks. If you've played "Hydro Thunder" in the arcades, your device for speed should be familiar- a lever with Slow on the bottom, Fast at the top, and that little Boost button if you need it (and you will if you can't control these craft). You must avoid ramming into hazards usually illuminated in red, including walls and some road blocks. Playing the simplest track with maybe the easiest speedster, I had a chance to see what this game was about. The way you sit down to race is different. To provide an analogy, sitting down to play this game is kind of like riding a motorcycle up a steep hill while you're leaning back like in a go-kart or something. Strange position, but it's pretty cool when playing the game. It is a fast-paced racing game, and you actually feel like you're a NASA astronaut just getting pinned back trying to control some stupidly fast speeder craft. It was also a PC game, just that the Arcade version (the one featured in this review) was around in 2002 as the PC game was around since 2001.

PROS:
Speed lovers should dig this; awesome action; freakish sense of speed

CONS:
trying to fit one of these ships into a tiny hole really brings up the "thread the needle" expression; one of the drawbacks of high-speed games- can be tough to concentrate at speed... just ask F-Zero GX

OTHER INFO:
It's a nice, futuristic racing game. The WipeOut series is still the best futuristic racing game series of all time, the Gran Turismo of futuristic racing. This game is actually a great game. Doesn't really have that nature in which you're playing the best game in history, but it is a very interesting speed freak game. (Final Verdict: 8.75/10)
