Ok, For anyone who likes reading insanely long and boring things, click the link in my sig labeled "the super-marquee(C)". It will provide some background to this post. Ok, tomorrow my band starts band camp. Now, don't get the idea in your head about the American Pie thing, I'm talking serious work. 8 hours a day for four days of standing in the sun and walking in fancy circles. This year, if you read my super marquee you'd know, that I was appointed section leader of the saxophones (*crowd cheers*). This just means I have more responsibility and more work and I have to get there an hour before everyone else. Pros are that I can yell at people, tell them waht to do, and now have pushup power. Cons are the responsibility and the extra work. Now, tomorrow is supposed to be boiling hot in the morning and thundering in the afternoon (neither situation makes you want to stay outside holding a metal instrument...). Now you can all point and laugh while I bake in the sun tomorrow...

I miss marching band. I was the section leader of the drumline. The best years of my life were in band. I made so many friends, whom I've still friends with, met a really hot color guard chick that I dated for almost 2 years (and luckily we're still friends).

Went to London with Band.

Band is great.

Have fun at band camp!!! Enjoy every moment of it, because I remember that as much as I hated it at times, I NEVER EVER EVER stopped loving it.

I know how it feels, it is super hot!

especially down here where it is humid.

Jpec07, Don't call it metal, call it Brass!;) You make Brass instruments sound like a bad thing.

Btw, when you come back, tell me what songs you're playing and what you're schools fight song is.:)

btw, i though those movies offended you:odd:

They do, but that doesn't mean I haven't seen them (it was on the bus-ride to VA-beach last year...). Not to mention that it is a common thing said whenever I mention band camp...

but brass is metal. ;). Not sure what you mean by "fight song", we don't really act as a rallying agent (they do that themselves). I guess you could say that "Cheer for Millbury" is the closest thing to a fight-song. This year, we're doing songs from the Wizard of Oz. I have 5/6 of my songs memorized...

Didn't think there were actual band camps. So this is new...I don't get the idea though, why not just do it during school?

I was gonna be in Jazz band this year (8th grade) just so I could learn to play the "Star-spangled Banner" on guitar and then play it Jimi Hendrix style at basketball games. I didn't but whatever. I hate band.

You can't just do it during school because football season starts the first week of school in almost all areas. The marching band has to be ready to perform for the first game, and it takes at LEAST 2 weeks to be "good enough."

We have a jazz band at our school too, but they don't play the Star Spangled Banner.:irked:

One week if you're a "small enough" band...

My last day of the actual "band camp" was today. I'm a drummer, and I would be the section leader, but there is an insanely good drummer already with that position, so whatever. Hah, I am taking three music classes this year, Jazz, Wind Ensemble and music theory. Should secure at least three A's anyway...

You wouldn't beleive it, but I know some people that fail band miserably. I don't even know how. It really is a feat to fail that class.
