A really really bad night.

Tonight I went to my usual bar.
I'm in this place all the time and tonight was the first ever (and hopefully last) night like this.

Walk in, order drink, wait for pool table...
Get a table and start playing against 2 fellas I have never seen.
Mike P and Paul (that's all I know).

After whipping these guys in a few games we all got friendly and as the night went on the pool table got a challenge or two.
Eventually a different group won the table.

With a whole new group of people crowding my old table eventually someone let a comment slide.
Something rude, but not audible.

I am a blunt person and said "excuse me."
This led to nothing at the moment but 15 minutes later a youngster wearing a hat and camo jacket made direct contact with me in a hostile way.

I checked it out by asking him what he had said... He replied with a long-winded speech about never looking his way again and never doing this or that (full of profanity).
(mean-while, my brother is blending-in next to me with fists clenched ready to brawl)

Being the person I am, I collected myself and went to my bartending friend (clay aka flip).
Mr. Clay (as I call him) said not to sweat and if anything started again, just say something and they would be out.

I went back and smoothed it over with the camo fella... Blood boiling... but all was good.
(clay also walked over and made sure homey wasn't starting it up with me)
(1 fight avoided )

However, at this time my 2 new "friends" (mike and paul) came over, asked a few questions and then suggested we all got out of the place.
We all leave (my brother is always with me).

After finding a place to hang-out my bro, my "friends," and I all do our thing for a little while then leave that spot and go back to the bar.

When we got back to the bar it was the usual entrance followed by a short coversation with my brother.
This was when mike and paul come walking out of the bathroom... We all start talking and eventually paul and I get into a side conversation where I mention what a badass this dude is (fighter in matches organized by a big new orleans bar).

That's when he asked why I would tell him that to which I replied, "I am just letting you know what I'm thinking... I know your bad so you would never need to worry about someone like me wronging you... I would never wrong you."

He gets heated suddenly and says "what, you just crossed a line... You're gonna say some stuff like that...
Is this about the envelope in my pocket that has $400 in it?

I had $460 and now I only have $100... and you're the one that handed me that envelope a minute ago!

I had never touched this envelope or touched his money.

Freaking out inside but trying to remain calm, I do my best to calm him down and explain that I would never do anything like that...
Mike is next to him saying "check your pockets blah blah blah"
Paul is still going crazy and slowly working his way into a frenzy.

Paul walks away quickly and mike says not to worry.
We all (bro included) walk to the door and see where paul is... Blake (my brother) and I say, "mike we're leaving."

Mike says "cool, I'm gonna take him somewhere..."

Blake and I make for the door and after trying 2 different doors we find the perfect covert way out the back.

Dash to the car and we are on our way out (that corrolla can beat the gt-one I swear it!).

2 miles down the road, heart beat going crazy... We are safe and our 2 new "friends" are far behind (hopefully forgetting us).
(2 fights  )

God it was scarey, thank god blake and I were not hurt.

I mean it, I was scared tonight and this "paul" was an ex-convict that had spoken of his guns and knives all throughout the night ( don't forget that he's a bar fighter too).

It was a bad night.
Like I said... Thank God.

Now blake and I are at home safe.

The end. :nervous:   :scared: 👎 🤬

A night you wont forget for a long time, no matter how intoxicated you were.

Lucky you and your bro werent hurt and nothing got broken.

BTW how old are you and your bro?

Since they called a guy in the bar a youngster, I'd say old ;) Jokin.

BTW, who drove? Your bro the DD normally? Just wondering.. as drinking in driving is bad...

Still, no one got hurt, so thats good.

Blake is 21 and I am 23.
(I called those guys youngsters because, old enough to drink or not those guys were still immature).

Both of us are students and niether of us are the kind to start un-needed trouble.

I'm very happy that nothing actually happend.

Plus, I was really worried about this dude paul.
He talked to me throughout the night and constantly had something to say about his various criminal charges (all violent) and his different weapons (guns to knives :( ).

It was a messed up night! :worn-out: lol!

btw, these other dudes were older (atleast 30, one said 32 specifically).

also... I'm the DD and hadn't really had much to drink tonight.

I try to do my best about drinking responsibly. :D

Eeek, sounds like a tough night. Is this bar a rough bar or is it usually fine?

Blake

While I've been away from GTP, well eve befor ethat I took up boxing, and one time after I beat a guy (TKO, there was nothign suss about it) he kept buggin me that he could take me anytime blah blah blah, i just disregard it, if he wants to have a rematch thats fine. Then one day coming home on the train I get out and as Im walking through the station these home boys start walking right behind me and once we get outside grab me buy the arms. (Im 140 lbs, these guys were both like 180+)

Anyway, the guy I had beat comes out from the corner and starts laying into me and Im starting to get freaked out cos you can only get punched in the face so many times before something serious happens. SO i start stugglin and stuff (before that I hadnt really bothered cos I knew it'd just aggrevate them) and eventually one of them loses his grip. I shake the other away and leg it like ive never run before.

Anyway, they chase me of course; and just when they've all most got me this cop car just rolls passed and they ran off. The cops were cool about it and the guy ended up getting charged because of the CCTV camera. But yer, thats about the scariest thing thats ever happened to me.

Bah, what wankers, for both stories. I really hate it how people just think fightings going to solve everything.

Sounds like you had an interesting night there Kent! Glad to hear nothing went horribly wrong, things could have got real ugly.

And Crayola, that story is just plain freaky. Whoever you beat up clearly had some problems.

I almost had a similair experiece in a pool hall before.

911_Carrera, Sawyers, Lost Prophet and me all went to this pool hall in the next town (nearest decent one). Well we've been in there about an hour and LP cousin phones up saying that there are some boys coming down to beat the crap into him after another one of my mates (Dappa) started chopsing to them a while ago.
Well we see them all file into the hall and sit in the corner, we could tell they were about a year younger, but there was about 10 of them. Well we just carry on playing for another few hours and eventually the owner chucks them out for loitering.

So finally we all leave, two snooker cues at the ready and find...
...no-ones waiting! Yippeee, now, we only have to walk a few miles home. :nervous:

DAMN DUDE! Looks like your night sucked! :( I would look out for these people and stay away from that bar for a while or if you ever get in contact with the contact the proper authority becuase if you start arguing with the person you will end up fighting I gurantee you this and all sorts of BS like Law suits and **** like that will be thrown at you and in just a flip of a finger you life is funked up. I would advise you just to remain calm at all times man. Unless he or she attacks you first!

yep right...I was playing pool with a young drunk idiot in my corner bar and the fool got pissed off and broke a pool stick over my head...that got me steamed so I beat him into oblivion. The police came and took one look at the dude and arrested ME...in spite of the 50 witnesses saying what happened. I was released with no charges after 4 hours but it cost me 300 bucks for a lawyer to contact the DA's office and pitch a *****..oh and the nitwit sic'd a lawyer on me and it cost me 1800 bucks to defend a lawsuit that was thrown out on procedural grounds. Fight at your own risk . If a fool dont shoot or stab your ass the law will make you squeel like a pig.

Thanks again for the concern everyone.

Crayola, yes, that must have sucked big time.

I worry that the "paul" is the type to pull some stuff like what you mentioned. :irked:

I just hope that he found all his money the next day and that he realized what an arse he was.

Thing is... This dude mentioned several assault charges against him ranging from plain old assualt to domestic to even murder in the 2nd. :scared:

I mean, dude spent 9 years in angola prison!
There is no way I could deal with someone like that.

Thank god is all I can say.

But I must admit...
If I have to dodge out on my bar over this I will be pissed.

Then again, maybe this is god's way of turning my life around for the better?

Cut my drinking in half!
Limit my pool playing to the nice pool hall!

All in all I am dumb-founded by this.
With any luck I will never see these guys again.

And it really sucks too because "mike" seemed like a really nice guy.
"Paul" (the ex-con) did not. lol.

Heh, and I thought I had an odd night, with this random chick who kept hitting on me... while my girlfriend was there!

Kent, It sounds like you were getting conned out of $300. Why would this guy hand you an envelope with cash in it? I would stay clear of the Bar for a while and if you go back and see that Paul guy there, Leave immediately.

hahaha that sucks. It's not funny, but it is funny, because the most common place for bar fights in this one bar in Calgary. The cops don't even respond anymore, because theres an average of like 3 or four every night. It was on Real TV, and my dad has been in a similar place. he says to always sit by a window just in case some "sh-t goes down", you can get out quickly. anyway, my dad's sitting there, some drunk indian guy throws a knife somewhere, and all hell breaks lose. my dad jumps out the window and theres a cop standing right there. my dad gets up and the cop is just like "you did the right thing. now get goin'."

My goodness, Kent...glad everything "worked out"...

I remember my first bar experience - it was at the beginning of 2003 and I was 20. I had gone to a local venue to see a band play, and met a guy. We hit it off, and spent most of the night talking and not really paying attention to the band.

Cut to the leaving part, we exchange numbers, and head to our cars. I'm not 10 paces from the door when I hear, "HEY FAGGOT!", and turn around to see some rather surly looking heavyset man who appeared to be in his late 30's.

Now I'm no fighter, I'm scrawny, have a low tolerance for pain, and I'm totally against the whole violence thing. I turn to face him, as he makes his way over. In my head, I keep thinking, "Run. Run. Your car isn't far from here. He's got a good 120 pounds on you. You ran track in high school. You can make it. Run. Run."

By the time my mind works everything out, he's right in front of me, waving a tatooed hand in my face, finger extended.

"You're kind isn't tolerated blah blah you're going to hell blah blah I'll kill you if I see you here again blah blah!!"

I stood there for a good 5 minutes, listening to him ramble on and on. I was scared, of course...if I turned to walk away and ignore him, what would he do? Get madder and strike me? I wasn't about to find out.

His ignorance ringed in my head for what seemed like forever. I wasn't listening, but I knew what he was saying. I had a new appreciation for movies about blacks during the 50's, and I realized just how harsh people can be when they don't accept what they don't understand.

I was crying, and I wanted to go home. It was january and it was freezing. I didn't know what he was going to do, or when he would stop. By now security had made it over to me, the parking lot mostly empty and me not too far from the door with this angry induvidual screaming his head off at me. Two men intervened, and asked if I wanted them to call the police. I just shook my head and thanked them, walking to my car while they held the man back, still shouting at me.

I got in my car and drove home. I spent the whole night thinking about what happened, and actually considered renouncing my sexual preference.

I never called that guy, and he never called me.

Sorry for that, it was long winded and overly dramatic, but that's how I recount such events. Some people can just suck so much ass.

Good tale nonetheless. sounds like he was from Mississippi or something. I don't see why people get so freaked out about that crap, like jesus christ man...come on.

That was actually the ONLY encounter I've ever had with open intolerance against my sexual preference. I mean, I get stares and stuff, but no one has ever approached me or gotten violent about it. I didn't really hold a serious grip on how seriously discriminating some people can be - I think anyone sort of takes it in stride - until it actually happens to one of us.

You speak as though you're a Klingon or something. Or you're in a giant conspiring clan. There isn't really such thing as the International Gay Conspiracy is there..... :odd: :p

Good story, Ten. It's really a shame that there are still ignorant morons like that in society. When will people learn that people of other races/religions/sexual preferences, etc are nothing to fear at all?

That brings me to another issue. I heard a black woman say that "moron" is a white people word...wtf? that's like.....not fair? lol i'm at a loss of words here people.

Sorry about that - by "us", I meant anyone who fits into any category that recieve discrimination - I can't really think of anyone who doesn't, so I just generalized and said "us".

My bad. ^_^;;

um...I think it was a coincidence. I heard somewhere that Moron originated at a University and was made up by some proffessor to describe intelligence. In Wisconsin if I remember correctly.

yup. It was like 50-75 = moron.
35-50 = idiot
25-35 = retarded
0-25 = insane

These aren't the current ratings, but when it was created these terms were considered politically correct.

From what I have heard, if your IQ is above 140 you are a genius. You need to have an IQ of at least 110 to graduate from college. The average Americans IQ is between 80 and 100.

Highest IQ - Most people say the person with the highest IQ ever to have walked on the face of the earth is Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (IQ 210 or even higher).

There is a woman called: Marilyn Vos Savant, she is supposed to be the person with the highest measured IQ (218 at adult age)

Einstein's is estimated in the range of 190-200.
John Stuart Mill, english writer, economist 190
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, German Poet 185
Voltaire, French writer 170
Mozart, Austrian Composer 150
Thomas Jeffereson, US President 145
Benjamin Franklin, US Diplomat, statesman and scientist 145
Charles Dickens, English novelist and humorist 145
Galileo Galilei, Italian pshysicist and astronomer 145
Charles Darwin, English Naturalist 135
Ludwig van Beethoven, German Composer 135
Leonardo Da Vinci, Italian Painter, Scientist and engineer 135
Sir Isaac Newton, English matematician 130
George Washington, US President 125
Abraham Lincoln, US president 125
Nicolaus Copernicus, Polish Founder of modern Astronomy 105

People also have an EQ, whatever that is. The max score you can get on an EQ test is 100.

Edit:
I found this -
IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Supposedly, it is a score that tells one how “bright” a person is compared to other people. The average IQ is by definition 100; scores above 100 indicate a higher than average IQ and scores below 100 indicate a lower that average IQ. Theoretically, scores can range any amount below or above 100, but in practice they do not meaningfully go much below 50 or above 150.

Half of the population have IQ’s of between 90 and 110, while 25% have higher IQ’s and 25% have lower IQ’s:

Apparently, the IQ gives a good indication of the occupational group that a person will end up in, though not of course the specific occupation. In their book, Know Your Child’s IQ, Glen Wilson and Diana Grylls outline occupations typical of various IQ levels:

140

Top Civil Servants; Professors and Research Scientists.

130

Physicians and Surgeons; Lawyers; Engineers (Civil and Mechanical)

120

School Teachers; Pharmacists; Accountants; Nurses; Stenographers; Managers.

110

Foremen; Clerks; Telephone Operators; Salesmen; Policemen; Electricians.

100+

Machine Operators; Shopkeepers; Butchers; Welders; Sheet Metal Workers.

100-

Warehousemen; Carpenters; Cooks and Bakers; Small Farmers; Truck and Van Drivers.

90

Laborers; Gardeners; Upholsterers; Farmhands; Miners; Factory Packers and Sorters.
