So out of boredom I was driving my car (Gallardo) in circles on a hill.

I had no throttle so it was down to the momentum (8mph) and gravity.

After 2 mins I had already got up to 11mph, the car should have entually come to a halt...

Anyways just sharing.

It's called idle, you don't need to be on the gas for the car to be on, my car idles at 15 mph in real life. That piece of a car gets annoying sometimes lol.

I'm 14 and I even know that he above two posters are right.
Have you never been in a real car before?

Wasnt complainging... theres enough other people to do that for me.

I didnt know they put an idle on the cars in GT5, im more than aware real cars do this, ive just never left a car running before, genreally racing y'know.

I didn't say you were complainging, I said you were complaining. And the thread title is a huge consideration when I accuse you of complaining.

If you take your car out in a parking lot, stick it in D and take your foot off the brake. Without any throttle input you'll accelerate. 👍

If you have a manual car, obviously you'll stall, but GT doesn't do this.
edit: I was simplifying, I have a manual Wrangler in the driveway. Thanks for the corrections on GTs clutch modeling though. However, lets avoid derailing the thread further.

Yes, but even if you slowly lift off the clutch you begin to idle, and can idle without any throttle input.

Have any of you taken into account the fact that he stated it was on a hill? Do your cars at idle have enough momentum to make it go up a significant incline? Perhaps instead of jumping the guy you could have actually thought about what he said and asked for more detail then given a civilized answer rather than just responding like pompous douchebags.

Edit, I see someone has pointed it out already

He never said going up or down a hill, just a hill. One can only assume, up a hill, and thats probably what he means.

Yes, as I said, my old honda would go up most hills around town with no throttle, and I live in a hilly area.
I don't know how steep the hill was that he's on in the game, but I wouldn't say it's obviously wrong.

For the record, I've stopped on hills in GT5 and had my car roll backwards as well, depending on the grade.

So he was idling for 2 minutes UP a hill? Pretty big hill, don't know if I have seen one that long in GT5. Did you take THAT into account?

And he said he was going in circles, not climbing a hill. But hey what do I know. I don't take anything into account before jumping the guy,

Yes,when in D mine will roll up a fairly inclined hill at idle just to answer your second question lol

No true, you can stall a car in GT also. I have a G25 wheel (with clutch) and I have shut my cars of before by have it in any gear and releasing the clutch without throttle, and the motor dies. To restart the car, all you do is give it some gas with the clutch pushed in.

Also, in a low geared car or truck, you can take of without giving it throttle in real life, and I do it all the time in both my Cobra and Challenger. I used to take off in 2nd gear in my old Dakota without giving it any throttle. You just can pop the clutch or it will die, but taking off easy, it is just fine with no throttle.

The GTDF flies in half-cocked again! Poster said ON A HILL. And, unless he's driving on the grass, doing some VERY tight circles. Which will make a lot of cars with manual transmission stall.

Some of you should take your own advice:

1- You lack basic car knowledge.

2- Quit complaining. (when someone finds something you'd rather ignore)

EDIT.... seems I'm not the only one pointing this out

True.

My old honda would creep up hills, and I live in the mountains. I've never driven a Gallardo, so I can't comment on that.

LOL I was gonna say my old Honda Civic would go up a 5* grade by itself idling in 1st gear all the way down to 400 RPMS without stalling.

So.. what part of the posts did you miss where we explained, in rational terms, that this was possible in real life, and that we had done it, in real life?

Where I said 'driving in circles on a hill'

So at one point im going up, one point down, driving in circles.

I kinda thought that was the name of a track or something, but still 8 mph is still pretty fast to start idling at, my car idles pretty hard core.

Weird, someone should take the advice of the advisor's advisor. Lol. He doesn't know what is going on man. His post is completely incoherent and he has no idea what HE even said.

Id come off the power, by the time I had started turning in it had slowed to 8mph.

After everyone started bitching I tried my Gallardo, the idle is 4MPH.

So its not idle...

actually if you have a g27, or any other wheel with a clutch and 6 speed gate shifter. you can stall by not giving the car any gas. it just shuts off and you have to engage the clutch and tap the gas to start the car again. its not easy to do if your trying to actually start off, you kinda have to mean to do it.

If you thumb, is off the gas your basically idling. unless your car is off

When you go down a hill you pick up speed, when you go up you should lose speed. Is there anything else we are missing?
