A little boy learning bass brings his 4 string up to his dad and says "Watch this dad!" and plays an A repeatedly. His dad says "That's great but you should probably learn some more material if you want to get better." So later on the boy comes back and plays an E repeatedly. His dad says the same thing to him. The next day the boy comes up to his dad looking very excited. He plays both the A and the E one after another and thinks he's pretty hot stuff. His dad says "That's great but you still have a lot more to learn." The boy says "I know dad, but I've already got a gig in a country band!"

De-tune one of his/her strings...

and don't tell him/her which one.

I brake my G-string repeatedly.... I even play with it... some find that humorous... :)

Sorry, meant to say.... previously! That's a great joke as country-western is one of my least liked genres to listen to, and I refuse to play it (which is unheard of in Montana..., the great west you know...YeeeeeHaaaaaaa!)

:p

Yes I know, it's true. I even tried fortified, extra-strength G-Strings with little luck. Once I was playing when my G-String broke, and it flipped up and smacked me in the face.., if that wasn't embarresing. What a surprise that was. I used to keep all my broken G-Strings, until my gig back got filled up with all of them... Now I just throw them away.. I wish they made stronger G-Strings... Life would be so much more enjoyable. :)

I break my G-string as well. Although I just bought new better strings yesterday.

and the best way to piss off a bassit is mix the D and A strings around.

anybody else here multi-instrumental?
I play bass primarily, and in my band.
I play guitar in my spare time, and i want to learn how to play drums

urgh.. i hate it when people think bass is easy cuz it has less strings than a guitar
one time in guitar class at school I overheard some kid say something like
"man, bass is toooo easy! all you do is play the same note over and over again!" of course, he only listens to garbage like blink, etc.
anyways
I felt like walking over and punking the kid, but instead i just pulled my bass out and played jerry was a racecar driver instead  😈
he shut up pretty quick

reminds me of another time my friend was at my house, and he was slamming bass because its so "easy" i showed him some Primus, and all he said was "uh... pfft, thats not bass! they must do that on keyboard or something"
GAH
THE IDIOCY IS ASTOUNDING
:banghead:
