In my opinion, please add you thoughts as well, I think battles should be held on portions of the courses, not the whole course, it should be a mutual understanding where both competitors and judges feel that that particular linking s turns should be a good place for people to demonstrate their drifting styles.

Have a battle where you test competitors to drift a corner and produce a video based on what is supposed to be judged. This way you don't have cry babies saying, "Ohh man I can hold that corner longer", "man you pulled the ebrake on that corner", "you drifted so close to the apex", "i drifted the staright and you didn't", "you could have carried your drift further", "you went so slow through it", etc etc..... lay out the requirements for that corner. If you expect a drift with no ebrake, speed, amount going sideways, where the drifting line should be, early enterances, late exits, than say it up front and let that be the challenge.

I think judging battles of the whole course is bogus because there are so many turns that each driver may decide to pull off different styles on each corner and then the competetors feel that the judges are blind and didn't notice their style on a specific corner in comparision to their opponent.

We should keep it simple and battle 2-4 linking corners of a course rather than the whole course.

Anyone else feel the same way?

That depends on the challengers to decide on whether or not to have the challenges on certain parts of the course. It's written in the Rules Thread.

Again, that depends on the challengers. They will have to talk about it themselves because it's their battle. It depends on how they want to doosh it out and not the judges. That's why we have the GTPDC, the GTP Drift Competition. These challenges are off the side and have nothing to do with the Drift Competition. This is for the opportunity for the drift teams on GTP to challenge each other or for other people to challenge each other. So far, there hasn't been any successful challenge, so it seems like you're looking way into the future where it may be less likely to head.

Again, that depends on the challengers and not on the judges. Unless specified, then it's understood that the challengers will drift around a whole course. Anyways, that's what the members around here have been doing.

There can't be any rule saying that because this forum is open to any kind of competition. It's not specified because we [as in bengee, the judging panel and I] would like to see a variety of battles and not just one kind. That's what the GTPDC is there for. There are rules saying you can drift 1-3 consecutive corners or you can drift 4 or more. There are no limits, but for the sake of these battles, it's just more fun to see what they turn out to be.

lol... i think most of these ideas were adressed in the rules and we let the individuals involved choose... i will check later...

While two or three corners is good in real life, they don't get to practice over and over and over in real life and choose their best one. Also, their pockets get lighter every time they hit something. We don't have to worry about that. I think your idea about doing only a few corners would work in say, GT4 online drift competition. Especially for the sake of saving time.

That would be ideal. I've not doubt we can in GT4. It has online play, it has all the D1 circuit courses, it has better traction physics... The only thing I'm concerned about is how they'll do the spectator thing, if at all. Wonder if only the drivers will be able to see the game live? It'd be pretty sweet to be able to just float around and watch from whatever angles you want while the battle is actually taking place.

usually on online racing games there is an potion to join a race as a spectator... but not all have this option
