I cant believe there isn't a thread about this game already!

Even although this is not considered a full release and is a download only (Arcade game on 360 and download on PSN store) I can see this game being a big success with everything I have read about it !

I am as you can tell a huge battlefield fan, I only started playing when I got a copy of BF2:MC on the 360 and i was hooked instantly and i'm looking forward to a remake game from the past on the new Frostbite engine with fully destructable buildings right down to the foundations, and not to mention jet fighters and katana swords for the melee weapon on one of the Japanese kits!

Bad Company took the game onto a new level from BF2:MC but it let most of the veterans down as it had no clan support or team chat or even a conquest mode !! 1943 brings back all of these !

Anyone else looking forward to this game? I can see this taking up alot of my time!

No one?

I cant believe no one else wants this game!

And for any BF2 MC fans, apparently DICE are working on a 'secret' for Bad Company 2 and they have hinted its to do with BF2 MC - i'm guessing bringing back some old maps, most likely Backstab & Bridge too Far!!

well i played Bf2 alot LAN with my friends but i still have it installed on my laptop and occasionally play it, played BC, didnt like it that much, im waiting for a new BF with BF2 style, cause that was just amazing!

Chris

This game is definately going back to the old style BF games!! Which is great, Bad Company was great but it didnt have the same feeling!

3 maps afaik. Wake Island, Iwo Jima and a third one. 1200 MS points is a good price, so of course I'll buy it.

Anyone buying this game soon? It seems to be good. I'm going to download the demo now and check it out for myself, it'd be a good game if we could somehow regularly organise a big group of GTP'ers to fight each other.
I'll come back with a small review of the demo when I play it for a bit, bare with me though my connection isnt great so could take awhile to download.

Edit: Review as promised;
Well just to start, brilliant game, really glad I didnt let it pass me by. I only played it for 20minutes but I'm already fluent with all the controls, they just fit well, similar to COD4/WaW layout but not identical.
The brilliance of this game is its simplicity, it is only a small PSN/Live title so dont expect something like Killzone of course but it does what it sets out to do really quite well. The aim is simple, theres two army squads fighting each other for control of an island. Each team have everything they need at hand, jeeps, boats, planes etc. Best of all, every man made structure you can see on the island can be destroyed. :D
Graphics arent going to win any awards but again for the price and style of the game, bearing in mind the huge amount of players the are by no means bad.
There has been some complaints about lag issues in the game, but I experienced none so I'm suspecting that those issues may only be of concern to 360 owners however EA are apparently working around the clock today to solve those problems, so give it a day or two and it'll be fine.

To sum up, if your looking for a cheap fun arcade style war game this is definitely for you. Its the only demo I've ever downloaded and wanted to keep going back to.

PS: Download size for the demo on the PSN is ~530MB, so shouldnt take anyone too long to download.

Its out now in the American and PAL PSN store. Its only a downloadable game, you cant pick it up in a shop. Which is annoying if like me you've got no credit card. :( Just wondering if I borrowed someone elses and put €20 into the PSN wallet, does the PS3 remember the card numbers or can you use a different card each time? Sorry for going off topic.

It remembers numbers. Can't you get PSN Cards where you live? Most places that sell games here now sell PSN cards as well.

I'm downloading the whole package now I liked what I saw in the Pulse episode and impulsively bought it, I hope its good.:nervous:

I played the demo yesterday and decided to buy it. Only three maps and classes, but at 13 euro, there's no complaining. The gameplay is very solid. 👍

Really enjoying this, I think it's actually better than WaW: mainly because of the vechiles and the size of the maps.

Played the demo last night and really enjoyed :) . Ive been having fun mastering the aircraft in tutorial mode, needless to say I'm still diving to my death alot  .

I'll deffo be buying the full release later today.

well they dont sell PSN cards where i live... so i doubt im gonna be getting that game.
What happened to EA and their great games like BF1942 or BF1944 road to rome. Those were the games!

I personally wasn't impressed with 1943, much preferred Bad Company (I know this is a budget title but even so). I'm not sure why it doesn't appeal to me, but I'd go out and buy Bad Company instead with my money, sure I'd have to pay more but I could still get it cheapish now.

I was put off Bad Company by the fact that the enemy can see you and instantly locked onto you the second you moved into their view. Even if they were miles away they saw you and begun shooting within a second. 👎 I'm definitely going to give this one a try though, it sounds like good fun.

Absolutely correct, it's really fun, and once you get a hang of the gameplay you get much more satisfaction from earning badges and stuff. It's ok when I kill people in COD, but when you do it in Battlefield 1943 its so much sweeter. Overall as I said I think this is better than COD WAW. But that's my opinion. Modern Warfare is the best COD, can't wait until number 2.

Anyone else had freezing issues with this game on Xbox?

It happened to me once yesterday. Fair enough, but I've been playing for 10 minutes and it's happened to me two more times. It's getting a tad annoying since it hasn't happened to any other game I've played today.

Thanks for letting me know. Sadly they dont sell PSN cards in Europe yet so I might have to miss this, although I've been meaning to get a credit card for awhile now??

@GT; From what I've heard the Xbox version is having serious server issues (probably due to the massive sales they weren't expecting). I read in a few different places that they are plugging in more servers for the game 24hrs a day until the issue is sorted, give it one more day and it should be fine. Otherwise maybe you dropped a few packages whilst downloading but thats unlikely.

I played for another hour and its been absolutely fine, so I dunno what happened there.

Yeah, the release day of the game it was nearly impossible to get online. Now it's a lot better - manage to enter a game 90% of the time. 👍

Played it most of the evening along with Minus955, EBK2 and ChzSteak. It's very fun and addictive, definitely worth the cash. 👍 Using the air raid feature to drop bombs on the battlefield is also a very nice addition. :)

Hmmm, well I didn't like the way the Battlefield games went after Vietnam and I dislike the game engine they currently use, so this was unsurprisinly disappointing for me. I don't see the value for money here, why not play 1942 and all its expansions with more maps and a community thats been around for 7 years? New graphics, physics and gameplay touch ups are nice but it all feels a little pointless and I don't like some of the gameplay decisions in the first place - for example, ruining the whole dynamic of the Wake Island map...seriously, what the hell? That map was originally an assault map where one side held the island and defended against the other side assualting on the beaches, etc. Now its some skirmish map making many of the beach defences etc rather useless now - what was the point?

Also we now have less troop choice selections than in 1942 and unlimited ammo for the primary weapons?

Overall it feels badly thought out in the sense of the maps and I question why I should spend money to play this when I already have a perfectly fun 1942 on PC. Don't like the gameplay decisions taken and overall I'm sad this series went away from what I liked about it originally. I'll happily pass on this one.

froze once on me so looks to be a game issue not your PS3 apart from that one incident though I like this game alot. It's one of those "jump in" games where you can quickly jump into a quick game and have a blast, be it for 20 mins or 2 hours! I'm trying to get to grips with the planes at the moment, spoting a target on the ground however is a bit of a knightmare, I've harased plenty of people and blown up a jeep, apart from that however I spend most of the time banking sharply to keep in the playing area LOL I think there a touch too fast to be of any real use. Snipers however can cause mayhem in the right position! Love the "bullet drop" on all the weapons, makes shooting much more involveing and takes the advantage away from some of the bigger guns such as the tanks. Very balanced overall, and for the price £10 it's great!

Bought the game 2 days ago and I'm enjoying it a lot! The sniping can get annoying since you always have to hit the enemy 2 times for a kill, or once for a headshot. Sniping across the map is a little bit realistic, not like Call of Duty 4. Bullets across the map have.. "lag?" Really cool in some kind of way.

The Infantry is really good for mid-range or close shooting. The guns don't have that much recoil so you can just hold down R1 and kill. The downside is the clip size. The Thompson holds about 21 bullets(like IRL), it's an arcadey(sp?) game and I think it should hold more bullets.

The Rifleman class is really good for mid-range too. Usually takes 3 shots to take someone down with the M1 Garand, but you'll be using that class more because of the Rifle-mounted grenades(noobtubes0, and the 3 grenades. Ammo is infinite in BF'43 so you never run out of noobtubes. :D Don't ever, ever try to snipe with this gun. You won't hit anyone. :D

Airplanes.. are awesome! I just can't stop flying them and starting dogfights! They will be tricky and frustrating to fly at first because of the horrible BF'43 controls, but after about 25 minutes of flying time, you'll be alright and you'll find the trick to it. I've killed about 20something planes dogfighting and I became an Ace in on flight only. :sly:

Overall, BF'43 is pretty great so far.. When we reach 43,000,000 community kills we'll unlock Coral Sea, a dogfighting map, which looks promising.

9.4/10

The only drawback I have discovered so far, is that this game makes me want more: more (bigger) maps, more players, more weapons and more classes! If EA would do do something the size of BF2 for PS3, that would make me one happy gamer. 👍

Downloaded this last night and had about half hour playing before TG came on. I liked it and for £9 you can't really go wrong. Going to pay for the full version tonight.
